I bought some when DD was about 9 months old. They were perfect at that age for peek-a-boo since they were so lightweight and she could see through them, so it wasn't scary to have them over her head. She's loved them every since - she calls them 'peek-a-boos'

We play dress up, I tie them on to her or around her to make dresses. She uses them all the time as blankets for her baby or she has me wrap them around her so she can pretend to be a baby.

Around 8 months or so and they are perfect for peek-a-boo. Now she loves to hide US and pull the scarf off or wrap it around herself like a boa. :LOL

i think we started when dd was around 18 months or so starting with some scarves i had left over from previous work incarnations
dd loves to use them with music, making them "fly," go up & down, etc. we use them as a parachute-type to throw up & run under, hiding, "fancy" dress-up, etc. dd also likes to put a whole bunch of them on at once- not sure what she's got in her head with that one :LOL

ds has been playing with playsilks since birth. He has always really been into fabric and loved having them in his mouth and softly drug over his face. Now he likes to put them over toys and plays peek a boo with them like others mentioned. My dd, who is 10 still uses playsilks, too. We have actualy worn through a few of them over the years!

ds was just about 5 months old. we first only had silk scarves (but they were really good and shear) then got some colored ones too. he loved trying to pick up the silks and play "peek a boo" at that age.
