This question is for Mamas who did unrestricted toddler nursing . . . I am 18 months pp with no cycle and I don't believe I am pregnant. I'm just starting to get worried that I will never have a cycle again. :

My ds is 2 1/2 years old and I still haven't had a postpartum AF yet. In some women this is very normal and AF doesn't return until you stop BF

DD was 23 m.o. when AF came back for me. It's probably more info than you need, but thought I'd share. We wanted to ttc#2 and I was getting anxious (I'm no spring chicken ), so I "helped" things a bit by going to get Accupuncture and taking Fertility Blend (it has Vitex, which ever so slightly reduces supply). I also partially night-weaned to reduce the number of times DD nursed (she was a marathon night nurser). It took 6 weeks of this to get AF back...

You should not be worried -- our bodies are all as different as they are the same. Having said that, I've been on the other side of the worry fence you are on right now -- I got mine back around 3 months and was worried sick that something was wrong. Unfortunately, I don't think we get too much say over how our bodies work this way., so I guess we have to just try not to stress about it.

I didn't get mine until 2 years pp with my first and then maybe once or twice a year for a looong time after. My 2nd I got it at 9 months pp and I think it was because I was staying up so late and not nursing at night much. This time around I had it in October for a whole 7 days but didn't get it this month so...
Like a pp said I don't think we have any control over it. Our bodies just do what they feel like doing sometimes.

So glad to see this thread...I've been agonizing b/c my ds is 2 1/2+ and no sign of my period. My husband has been trying to convince me something's wrong--or that I need to get aggressive about night-weaning. I feel healthy, so what the heck?

I got mine at 18 months pp. Right before I got it, I kept thinking,"I wonder when..." and sure enough, periods returned...then for a few months they weren't too regular. When dd was 2 (she stopped bfing just after her 3rd b-day) they became more regular.

I was hoping to go for over 24m after dd but i didn't work out that way! You are normal and your body knows what it is doing.

Thanks y'all. I am just adjusting to the idea that I may wind up with less children that I planned on (I started at 28 and had planned on cramming in a whole bunch) but nursing is so important to us that I don't see a reason to stop . . .

Had very mild cycling all through pregnancy and full blown AF within 2 weeks of birth, right on schedule DD is 2.5 yrs and still nursing a lot. AF was heavier then usual the first year and now is back to normal.

I wanted to add that my SIL is dealing with the same issues of a non-returning AF. They are getting up there in age and so she is starting the weaning process to have another child. I am writing though to say that she is also going to an acupunturist for fertility treatments and says she is starting to get cramping, etc. Might be worth a try.

Almost exactly 4 weeks pp, even with exclusive, on demand bf-ig. (and was accompanied by some hardcore, atypical pms! : )same thing happened to my mom! (af, not the pms- so she claims)
