Maybe now? Usually it is still more than 4x. Pretty erratic. She cut down a lot during my pregnancy (partly my idea -- ouch, and partly hers, since no milk), and is increasing again now that some milk is back. But a lot of her nursings are short, so she can nurse more than 4x and still feel practically weaned to me, by comparison to earlier experience.

My DS cut down to 2-4 nursings daily right before his 3rd birthday. It was his idea, not mine, I just follow his lead. He usually still naps, and normally he nurses 1st thing in the a.m., before nap, after nap, and before bed. There were no external factors influencing this in our case.

My DD cut down to about 3 nursings and then to 1 and then to once every few days all within the space of a month or two starting when she was about 26 months old. I was (and still am) pg and my supply started to change and dry up a bit and then totally disappeared around four months. So it wasn't her idea but it wasn't mine either.

We seem to have found a common theme here. My ds cut back to 2-4 nursings a day when he was 2 1/2 and I was pregnant.<br><br>
As soon as dd was born, he picked back up to MANY times a day. Then he shifted back to just at bedtime and sometimes when he woke up in the mornrng. Now he only nurses every once in awhile.

My 19 month old dd has cut down to about 4 feedings a day. But then again, I'm 11 weeks pregnant, so that *may* have something to do with it. Not sure yet. My ds is 26 months and averaging 4-5 nursings a day. His idea, and he's recently nightweaned himself as well. He will nurse more often if he's got a cold or is feeling particularly frazzled. If we are out, it could be as little as 3x a day but that isn't often.

with DD1, it wasnt till about age 2!<br><br>
With DD2, it has sorta been like that since about 18 months. Some days more often. Buyt mostly morning waking, down for nap, after nap, and before bed.

Around age 1 he was down to 3-4 during the day and 2-3 at night. I night weaned him at 18 months and since then it has been 2 very rarely 3x a day.

It hasn't happened yet with ds, and I don't think it happened with the girls until about a month before they weaned (Leah weaned at 30m and Hannah weaned at 14m, 1 month after I introduced a bottle.)

My older son started nursinng mostly just at nap and bedtime before he turned two - probably around 21 onths or so. This was completely on his own. He stopped asking to nurse at all right around the time he turned two.<br><br>
My younger son cut back to nursing 2 or 3 times a day when my milk dried up when I was about 3 months pregnant. He was 2 1/2 at the time. I'm pretty sure he would be nursing more if there was more milk, and he likely will want to nurse more when our baby is born.

My DD is down to 4-6 per day. She is 15 months old. Admittedly, it is probably driven byt the fact that we recently nightweaned and I have been setting limits during the day because it has been draining me physically (I was just dx with mono).
