My son is 14 months old and still nurses 6-8 times per 24 hours. (Empties both at every sitting).

And I think I ovulated. I haven't actually menstruated yet but I was under the impression that regular Bfing would delay the start of my cycle.

Has anyone else started menstruating while BFing?

I felt so cheated
With DS1 I got it before my 6 wk. checkup! With DS2 I just got it this week. He isn't even 6 mos. yet! He nurses ALLLL day and night. He's like a bottomless pit.
I have friends who have gone for over a year and even two!

I think going over a year with no period can be considered a bit of a delay!

My cycles started up again at 22 months. I felt my hormones shifting a couple of months before that so I could tell it was coming up. Ds was still nursing 6-8 times a day, but he nightweaned himself at that age so I think that's what triggered the return of AF for me.

I started just 8 weeks after my daughter was born. She was breastfeeding every 1-2 hours through the day and all night long. She would usually nurse every hour at night. So, I went on birth control (the minipill) and continued breastfeeding. When my daughter was 5 months, despite the birth control and breastfeeding, I was pregnant again. I tried to keep breastfeeding, but my milk supply slowly dwindled. By the time she was 8 months, I had no more milk and she had to switch to formula. I felt totally disappointed I was unable to nurse her for longer. Maybe I'll have better luck this time. (We're trying a different form of birth control this time around).

DS is 14 months and I still do not have a period. I feel kinda crampy once in a while, so I think SOMETHING is happening down there... he nurses all day and all night though, so I'm not expecting anything soon. In my group of friends who BF the time ranges from 6 weeks-22months - quite a range, huh?

I think it's kind of genetic as well. My mom breastfeed for 3 years, and didn't get hers back till she weaned my brother. Mine came back at 18 months (she is 22 months), BUT...she started nursing again all night long so it's skipped a month now (I'm not pregnant, atleast I don't think so!)... I think pretty much anything is normal. I had friends get theirs right back after they stopped bleeding after birth... depends on your body I guess!

Yes! This is exactly what's up with me. Crossing my fingers and shooting for 22 months!

I've started freelancing at an agency, in-house (only for the past 3 days) so DS is missing 1 nursing during the day. I was hoping that wouldn't trigger it. We'll see...

after the 1st one, it was 14 mo, but I had purposefully weaned her down to 3 feeds a day just to get my period back because I wanted to be pregnant again. that was stupid.

with this next one, I'm doing child-led weaning, as seeing as he's ONLY on breastmilk and 11mo old, and me not weaning him at all, it'll be at least 14mo.

I do notice fertility changes that I didn't notice after my first. This time I am noticing obvious cycles in cervical mucous.

i ovulated at 16 mo. pp and got my first period back 2 weeks later. DS was still nursing 4-6 times in daylight hours and 2-3 at night. but... his feedings did get clustered so that i had often some 5-6 hour stretches in the middle of the day with no nursing.

so 14 months sounds pretty normal to me for a frequently feeding baby!

Mine came back a week before my baby's first birthday. That said, my cycles are now about 45 days, my period is very short, and based on my charts, I'm not confident that my luteal phase is yet long enough to support a pregnancy. We'll see when we start trying!
