I'm ecing my 6 week old, and she has little poo-farts, productive farts, throughout the day. We often catch the big ones, but she soils lots of cds with the little poos. How old was your baby when they stopped, if they had them?

During the time of the poop-farts, I'd put a rag inside the diaper and just change that. I'd also, since I use the origami fold with a flat, sometimes just refold the middle section so the poop was on the inside and not against her skin.

We're at 14 weeks now and still have a poop-fart occasionally, but I think they stopped coming as frequently around 10-11 weeks or so.

Oh, and I'm sure you've already figured this out, but just in case...try offering the potty after a poop fart, often you can get your LO to at least put out a few more or even do a big poop and then you don't have to deal with as many poop-farts.

Thanks!

The poo-farts weren't much to deal with as we had a diaper service through this week, so I didn't care about tossing an entire dipe. Plus, they were pfs. I have flats, so when we start using them this week, I'll keep the re-folding and lining in mind. Great tips, thanks.

Looking forward to less poo-farts in a month or so.

Anyone else note when their LO stopped the poo-farts?

yamilee- did your kids' diet change, causing the poos to become more solid? I'm wondering because I thought I'd have yellow runny poos as long as I exclusively bf... should I expect otherwise?

ednamarie- I've heard green poos are related to a higher intake of foremilk vs. hindmilk. Were you bfing?

My twins are 6 months and I don't get the PFs to much anymore. I am EBFing as well and I remember with my oldest that he continued to have the yellow BMs till he was eating solids at about 8 or 9 months. My eldest DS didn't really have very many PFs, not sure why.

Happy ECing

No, they were still exclusively breastfed; I think the change was something to do with their digestive systems becoming more mature.

catcc- Yeah, six to eight hour blocks didn't even begin to fix the green poops. I was going to post about my saga but this is not my thread, heh heh. You can see my saga by searching for "green poop" in my post history, if you want, but it started later than the OP's kid is at, and it did not start with farty poos, so I don't think it's relevant here

I think they stopped around 4 months. We just stuck a wipe in his diaper and changed that out if the diaper was dry.

Also FYI, 'productive toots' CAN be an indication of a food sensitivity. DS had those, along with a 'burn' rash in his rectum area, and eczema, that was due to a wheat issue. Once I cut the wheat out, all issues including the productive toots were gone.

I don't know if all 'productive toots' are an indication of a food sensitivity, but just keep it in mind. Especially if there are 'burn' diaper rashes or other issues (mucousy pooh) occuring simultaneously.
