Been wondering about this for a while, we co-sleep, have no intehtion of transitioning dd out of the bed anytime soon and don't even have a room for her to move to. But I wonder if maybe she needs her own space sometimes, somewhere to retreat to, I know I liked my room as a child because it was somewhere I could go but I have no idea when it became important to me (certainly not at 16 months

). I know she loves to sit in anything her-sized, and can look very proud in a cardboard box sometimes.
So when do your dc seem to want their own space? what do you do to give them some space before they're out of the bed? Am I denying her something? (I don't think I am, but you know how it is....)

i really didnt think it was important until we recently created a room for my sons with all of his "stuff" in it. He is almost 3.5 and LOVES his room. I love not having toys in every room of the house

Sooo I have changed my tune-- I think having a spae of their own is impt, even if they dont sleep in it.

I think around ages 2-3 we set up my big kids' bedroom, with bed there. We told them it was theirs, but never told them they were going to sleep there sometime. They both played in there during the day, and after awhile started napping in there, even though they slept with us at night. The move to their own room was very gradual and unique to each kiddo and their needs.

But she sleeps with us. We play in her room and that's where all of her stuff is. In terms of a physical need for space i think that is just all about the individual child.
