So when is the "appropriate" time to register? All of our family and a lot of our friends are out of state so we're just doing an online registry for some basic needs. I'm 23 wks now and starting to feel that "we have nothing ready" overwhelming feeling...kwim?
I have the registry almost done i just need to know when the right time is to notify people. Thoughts?
BTW, i'm not doing a baby shower.

I started my registries this weekend and plan on letting my parents and in laws know about them in a couple of weeks around 24 weeks, once I'm sure I've made my final choice (too many choices!). If other people ask about them I'll tell them when they ask
We are having baby showers, but they won't happen until 30-35 weeks (and one is a books shower, so no registry needed)

I was told that if you register for items that might be available for a season only, like crib bedding, that you should be aware that they may not be there later. We aren't registering for that sort of thing though, so I didn't worry about it.

We have a wish list on Amazon and have had since before dd1 was born... so if anyone ever asks or wants that sort of info, we point them there with the caveat that the things on the list represent the "types" of stuff we like/want/need and they should just jump off from there.

With dd1 we added baby stuff around 20 weeks or so. However, we did have a very informal shower around 30 weeks.

With dd2 we didn't need much "new" for the babe so we didn't add too much to the list. Our shower with dd2 was also really laid back and informal.

With this babe we could use some things (we gave away a lot after dd2 since we didn't plan on a third, and this one is a boy so our hand-me-down pile is a bit smaller than it would be otherwise) but the "big things" we're going to get from a local mama shop and if anyone wants to send gifts we'll ask for general "whole family" items.

But in general, I think having a registry up between 20-25 weeks is a good bet for setting up a registry/wish list.

I've been registered for awhile (part of my baby day dreaming), but just started to tell family that asks what we need. Most people won't see it until the shower invites go out early next month.
