i had Pman (now 4.5y) in robeez until he was 2...then still had him in ultra flexible shoes, but with rubber soles...

Trout (almost 11mo) is in robeez now, and we just ordered a pair of See Kai Runs...we will see how he does with them...like Pman, i will keep him in very flexible shoes for a long time...

I prefer the SKR for outdoor walking. I wasn't confident that the soft soles would protect her feet when stepping on rocks and stuff and if the ground is wet.

My son is 4 and still wears soft-soled shoes. I will switch him over to harder shoes when he outgrows all available soft-soled shoes. Although he does wear flexible rubber rainboots when it's raining out, and flip-flops in the summer when he needs shoes (he prefers to be barefoot, but when we go in stores and such he puts flip flops or soft soles on).
My 16 mo. old wears soft soles, too, along with rubber rainboots when necessary. Although he recently discovered a pair of sneakers that he loves so I let him wear them every once in a while. The kid loves shoes!
My 4 yr. old bikes for miles in soft soles, wears them everywhere when it's cold out with no problem. I can't imagine a 1 yr. old in the world who needs anything else, aside from the rain issue.
