Ds crashed his bike today!
He basically kept going at the end of a little boardwalk instead of stopping, and went right down the wooden stairs! I was a little ways back from him (my mom's friends teenage son was RIGHT next to him but couldnt grab him fast enough), and all I saw was his feet up in the air He landed with his head somehow between the wood steps.

He was actually totally fine, checked him out and he only cried because he was scared. He has a bruised up chest and a scratch but was playing on the beach 5min later.

So do we need to replace his helmet? The one he has is a Bell, the cheap kind from walmart, and is actually a little big on him b/c I couldnt find one that fit right (either too small or a little big were my choices). The helmet looks fine other than scuff marks on the top and a tiny dent in the foam on the side.

Due to the dent, I would probably replace it and try hard to find one that fit him well (I know, easier said than done).

But that's my totally unprofessional opinion DS has never crashed hard (yet). My little sister did crash hard when she was 4. Her and her dad were riding bikes down the sidewalk and she swerved in front of him, it was quite the crash and tangle of bikes/bodies. Her helmet ended up breaking into pieces (I think there were 2 large chunks that broke off) where her head/helmet hit the cement. She only suffered a black eye but it could have been way worse. Obviously, her helmet was replaced.
