Hi everyone, I have read that eventually you will stop leaking, my son is almost 10 weeks old, so I was wondering when it will stop, or when did it stop for you? I am starting to hate booby pads they just get in the way
Thanks!

It comes and goes and depends on the person. My baby is now 17 months and I still leak on a rare occasion if a combination of things happen like I'm away for a long time and hear a newborn with that special hungry cry or am back and nursing and let down hard. If you think you might need protection, use pads. Some mommas use cloth pads since they breathe better than the disposable kind and are cheaper in the long run. When my older child stopped nursing every day a few months ago, I noticed I leaked too. Though at this point, if you're leaking between feedings you might want to feed the baby more often if possible. Hope this helps.

My LO is almost six mos and I am just now getting brave enough to go without pads in my own house... I leak mostly during let down so I make sure to apply pressure to the opposite side but it still sometimes soaks thru my shirt lol. I'm sick of pads but I make sure to wear them out of the house for sure.

Some people are just leaky, I still do a little each time at let down, the forcefulness and quantity just depends on the level of engorgement or no engorgement. I clamp my wrist or lower arm over my nipple at letdown for a few seconds and that usually takes care of it. Once in a while I'll have a week or so when I feel 'dry' and empty, but then his schedual changes, and I'll get that full or engorged feeling again. I don't wear pads unless I'm going out or wearing something nice, and even then I forget. I try to compress my nipples to stop the flow.

Everyone is different. Really.
With both my kids, I leaked for maybe 18 months? Maybe the last 6 months of it was only when he was nursing - the other side would leak (A LOT!) during letdown. When I nightweaned (2 years with my first, 18 months with my 2nd), it went down a bit.
Sorry, I wish I had better news.

I only leak when im nursing, though I don't think im ready to think about not wearing pads, I use cloth ones. I really just miss sleeping without a bra on, I have done it a few times and I leak all night from the pressure because I for the most part sleep on my stomach. But at least I know now that im not the only one who leaks

Mine stopped massively leaking around 9 - 10 months and stopped leaking altogether at 13 months.

Which pads are you using?

I stopped around the 10 month mark, which was a relief. I used cloth pads during the day (my favourites are madeby Bravado) and had to use disposibles at night because the flow was so heavy.

I'd say somewhere b/w 4-5 months. I stopped needing to wear the breastpads during the day and didn't leak everywhere during night nursings past 5ish months. Now if I feel a trickle, it's easily stopped with a little bit of pressure and DD is 6.5 months.

I'm JUST starting to leak less and my DD is about 5 months old. Have you tried Lilypadz? They didn't work well for me up until recently, but now that the pressure behind my leaking is lessened they work great!

For me, the leaking really slowed down around 3m postpartum, and I was able to completely stop using nursing pads by 4m pp. I had the same experience all 3 times.

I know other women who never needed nursing pads at all, and another mom who needed them until she weaned at 11mo (I have no clue how long she would have leaked had she nursed longer.)

The leaking (like leaking without letdown) stopped by 4.5m but I still leak on the opposite side if I don't push on the nipple. DD is 9 mo.
