I have been wondering about this question for sometime. When exactly does infancy end? 6 mos, 9 mos, 1 yo? . . . . . just a silly question that I was sure you all could clarify.

infant comes from the Latin for "without language" (or something like that). Developmentalists use it until 2 years.<br><br>
Others use infant until 1 year, and toddler for the second year (12-~18 mos), when the child can walk ("toddle").

I don't know if I agree with that, as babies DO have language, just not speaking full sentences, etc., kwim?<br><br><div style="margin:20px;margin-top:5px;">

Yeah, that's why I figure toddler would be more appropriate, as they are walking and chances are that once they are walking, they can eat food and survive if the parents are gone.
