I'm wondering if my son would benefit from having a pillow there for him to use if he wanted to. I'd also like to stop him from bumping his head on the wall. He's 18 months. At what age is it safe,... I don't want him to suffocate. Thanks

I think my son started using one around that age, if not sooner. I can't remember exactly, he was in bed with me and just kind of started using a pillow one day. :LOL

I personally wouldn't worry about letting an 18 month old use a pillow, if he's interested.

DS has always slept with us, and I can't recall when he started sleeping up on our pillows but I do know it was before his first birthday.

my first two babies started using a pillow around the first b-day, maybe a little sooner.

I know I am in the minority on this one, but with DS1 he slept ON TOP of a pillow for a while, then just seemed to like being slightly propped up. (firm pillows!)

I would not worry about 18MO child. He can roll over or sit up if he gets squished out by the pillow...KWIM?

18 months sounds ok. Though even then, my kids still didn't use it, lol.
