My son is 2yrs 11mo and to my knowledge has not yet on his own retracted his foreskin. His pediatrician did do it when he was still a baby (so quickly I couldn't stop her!). He is naked much of the day at home and fondles his penis fairly often. I thought I read somewhere that most boys do retract their foreskin on their own before this age. Of course along with that we never wash under the foreskin. Is this okay for his age?
Thanks.

He's fine! It can take until puberty (or later sometimes) before they are retractable.

You have nothing to worry about. There is no danger age where once you reach that point, you should start worrying. A man can be fully functional and happy with a foreskin that does not retract (even though situations like that are quite rare)

A study done in the Netherlands (that or Sweden) found that the average age for full retraction for boys was about 10-11 years old. So really, he is completely fine.

Like the rest said he is fine. The average age for boys to become retractable is 11. It can and does happen earlier and sometimes later there is not exact point when this must happen a fairly small percentage of boys do get to their teen years not yet retracting at which point they might consider a steroid cream but it is rare to need that. You can read more about this here:
http://www.cirp.org/library/normal/

Any time between birth and adulthood (and occasionally beyond) is normal. Here is a link you may find helpful if you havnt seen it already. http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=764732
