I got my period back exactly 7 weeks after delivering and loosing(at 5 hrs. old) my son at full term. It was just like a normal period and it lasted for 5-6 days. Only a week later, I started bleeding again really light, it was nothing like a period at all. Well now, I am about 1week late on getting my period, if I go from the first period- So should I take a test or wait and see if it comes on time with the time that I started bleeding really light. I really don't want to take a test and end up with a negative answer, I really want a baby! So what should I do? take the test now or wait.

I would test now, but that is just me. If it's neg. remember your hormones may still be out of sync.
Hugs and prayers moma.

Mama, did you have any betas done after your miscarriage to show that they had declined? After my miscarriage last fall, it took over 6 weeks for the levels to get below 25, which is what will register as a positive on a HPT.

If it was me, I would definately be testing though, as I am a test-a-holic and was desperately anxious to get pregnant again after my losses. If the result is a +, then you can always get serial betas drawn to demonstrate the rising hormone levels.

good luck Mama.

I didn't have a miscarriage, I had my baby alive, but because my doc messed up during delivery and pushed my baby back inside after the head was out, my precious son died only 5 hr. and 35 minutes after he was born, but no I didn't have any test done after i had my son.

Oh Mama! I am so sorry this has happened to your babe and your family

Also, I'm sorry to sound so inconsiderate. You know, I read your OP (duh of me) and some of your other posts and wasn't connecting things in my distracted reply......

Yeah, I don't know how fast the levels decrease after delivery.....What do you think you will do? Test or wait for a while? There must be so much going on for you emotionally right now.

Much love to you and your family after such an unfair loss.

Sorry for your loss. It is heart breaking to lose your child at any point. But must be twice as hard losing after a live birth.

As for when to test. For me, when I feel like I MUST test, I make myself wait another few days even a week sometimes, to test. I am always wanting to test too early (I don't always get BFP on my first day of missed AF). Sometimes I have to wait up to two weeks to get a BFP. So by making myself wait, I have anticipation, but not the "let down" of a BFN along with the anticipation (because AF has not shown up yet).

Naughty Dingo- Sorry that I made a rude reply to your message. I think I will wait a little while longer- I'm going to try to anyway, keep checking and I will put on here when I test. I'm just worried that I may get my period a month after i started bleeding really light, so I may not be late at all. I just don't want to be disappointed by a neg. test

I am so sorry for your loss

I am still trying to figure out why on earth the doc would push your baby's head back inside?

I had a miscarriage and so I have no real experience in your situation, but I was so devastated after losing my son that I couldn't bear the heartbreak of a negative result. I decided against the test and waited until af was regular. I was terribly irregular for a year after the miscarriage but during a mysterious 5 month absence of af I tested every couple of weeks. They were all negative (so I started to drink...those results were painful). I went to my OB/GYN and same negative result, they said no sex for three weeks and then tested again...I was newly pregnant. My date of conception was just over a year after my loss despite about 8 missed periods. In my experience and opinion, I would wait and take care of yourself as if you were pregnant.

Blessings to you and your family
