Do you go for your "wb visits?" We stopped vaxing a ways back, and haven't been to any wb check ups in forever....I think the last time we were in there was when ds was 15 months-ish old, he is 26 months now.
He never really gets sick, a sniffle here or there, but we've never had a reason to go.
Dh brought it up recently, wondering if I "had any intentions of ever bringing him back there? What if we're missing something?" etc.
So, I was just wondering how many of you go regularly, and for those who do not...when do you go?

We don't vax, but I took her in at one year for a WB check-up. I felt like it was a waste of time. My only concern is that I've heard about doctors refusing to treat sick babies because they haven't been coming in regularly. I think that's stupid but I will probably bring her in again at two years just in case.

We went last week for a 3yo checkup. We go every couple months because DS has severe eczema with Staph outbreaks pretty frequently, as well as asthma/respiratory problems. This time he just had weight check, height, eye exam (first time) and general development check (stand on one foot, etc). Only thing they commented on was the eczema and ongoing treatment plus a chart of high-calcium foods because DS isn't keen on milk so we get it from other sources. That was pretty much it and listen to heart, lungs and so forth.

I have to comment that my pediatrician office is wonderful though, very pro-breastfeeding in an extended manner (we aren't at this stage but they would support it), listen to what we as parents have to say, our concerns, etc. Anti-circ and never bothered his foreskin at all (I'm always surprised what some of you have to go through at the ped). So I don't hate going there because of they are supportive of us.

We went a couple of times for the WB check-ups
then chloe started hating getting weighed and measured and we decided that it was more for our benefit than hers that we were going anyway (to hear the ped tell us how AMAZING our dd was...!)
So we havn't gone in maybe a year.....but im thinking of trying it out again, just to keep the connection open in case we need her.

We haven't been since Ivan was 3 days old and he is now 2yrs and 5 mos old. He also never gets very sick, at least nothing I don't feel confident in nursing him through. We did not vax and I have a nurse mom to bounce ideas off of. We do get WIC, however, and they do an abbreviated checkup of sorts. With his bigger brother I have felt that every doctor appointment we've had has been a waste. Probably need a better doctor...

I took my son at 3, 6, 9, 12, 18, and 24 mos, but we probably will not be taking him back, nor do I plan to take the baby, unless they are sick. We do not vax, and it was so pointless and took forever. Why go to a building full of sick people to wait for an hour to hear someone say your kid is cute and doing great developmentally? You would know if something was wrong developmentally.
However, I am glad I had his lead levels tested at 12 mos. because my friend's son got lead poisoning (safe is under 10, his were like 35) from their house (which they were remodeling) and my son had been exposed there and had slightly high levels (a 12). I'm glad we found out about it and she moved immediately and her son was treated for lead poisoning.

Not since 6 months old when she was quite sick. Our docs are very mean to us due to no vaxxing and I just cannot take the stress. We went to the health dept for a lead test at 15 months because we live in a very old house and I wanted to be sure that was not an issue.

We go for all the well baby visits. Next one is at 15 months, last one was at 12. We see a couple of different doctors - I love them both, I love the nurses. They have a nurse available by phone until 9:00 every single day if I need to call for any reason. DD has never been seriously ill, but I have called on the dr.s a few times with various questions and it is very nice to be KNOWN and REMEMBERED, know what I mean?

My dd hasn't been for a wb visit since she was 4 mths old and she'll be 2 on Sunday. My doctor pissed me off and threatened me if I didn't start supplememnting her, so I never went back. She's only had 2 vaxes and I don't think she'll be getting anymore, so unless one of them gets sick we aren't going back.

we just sort of stopped going to the well baby check up's. DD is 27 months old and we didn't do the two year check up. I don't bring her for colds or anything like that. Last time we went was oh man that's hard to remember. maybe 19 months or a little older. she had ear infections.

We do all of ours. I like our ped and the office, esp the nurse I always end up talking to when I have a question. Our ped is pro-bf and has been fine about our selective vax schedule. DD has had a couple of issues, heart murmur, enlarged kidneys and a couple of bouts of pneumonia that I prefer to have monitored. But then I don't have a problem with going to my own yearly check ups either or getting my teeth cleaned twice a year.

We like our doctor, so it isn't a matter of not getting along-he knows we have decided to discontinue vaxing, and although he had mentioned it, I told him we were "holding off" and he let it be-they seemd fine with all of our other decisions.....
as I mentioned, he's never really been sick, never an ear infection, etc. I just do not see a point in going so that someone can tell me he's doing fine. I know he is, he grows like a little weed, he's a very intelligent little boy & so on. I was wondering if that was naive, is all (dh's word, not mine
: ), kwim?

DS is 27 months and hasn't seen the ped in a year, since his 15 mo appt. I started getting leary about vaxing at that time, so he hasn't had any boosters. He has had 1 or 2 colds (he goes to a sitter with a few other toddlers) but they were mild.

I agree with the statement that going to the doctor feels like a waste of time. Nothing that I can't do at home, myself...I do have a Nursing Assistant/Medication Technician training/licenses. DS saw the pediatrician last at about 16 or 18 months...he's now 30 months old and with the exception of being a little skinny (39" tall, but only 31 1/2#) which is fine, he's doing great, intelligent, active, etc. Stopped all vaccinations, and won't go back unless there's something I can't cure with my herbs or tinctures or salves...like maybe a really awful illness (strep, ear infection, UTI) that just won't go away, or maybe a broken bone or something that even though I feel confident to recognize, not confident in healing. Why should I pay someone a copay ($30 at this point) for a doctor who doesn't care about my DS to tell me I must vaccinate and he needs to put on weight, but he's fine and healthy? We do get WIC, so that provides me with an iron level every 6 months and an exact weight/height level. But there's not much that I can't do at home, and wouldn't feel confident in myself to treat.

DS (33 months) has been to two Dr. visits -- at 2 weeks and at two months. I would like to find a new ped for just in case but can't seem to find anyone supportive (or at least not horrible) about not vaxing.

DS goes for his 2 yr old wb check up next week. We need to keep up our appearances at the peds office b/c they are the ones I have to get referrals from to go to the kids allergist (HAVE to go to the allergist b/c we carry epi-pens....kids also have mild asthma and bad eczema)

Last wb visit was at 7 months. My pedi got me mad when he ignorantly pulled back my ds foreskin and hurt him, so I never went to another wb visit. I do not vax so it was not a big deal. I went last when he had a cold, but he is so rarely sick. My father is a Dr. (not a pedi though) so when he had his last cold my father just checked him for me.

I would really like to find a new Dr. for him that I like, but have no idea how to do it, since I want one who will be supportive of AP and not vaxing, and not a mindless slave to allopathic medicine and the evil pharma-nazis.
