My son is 5 months old. I have a ring sling, a MT and BB.

When Owen was a newborn, I wore him 90% on the sling...he slept in it mostly...it was great...I could do stuff, but mostly I just sat and stared.

As he got older, he began to HATE the sling, I began feeling frustrated...so around 3 months, I got the MT. We wore it with some success, but he doesn't like it for too long...I don't have it on too tight, but I hear him grunting...and eventually he wants out...

So my question is, do you wear your babes around the house a lot? I can't seem to do much when I'm wearing him...I obviously don't cook or drink anything hot...I can't do laundry...I can vaccum...(oh yey)...but mostly he is happy being worn if we go for a walk.

Then when I go shopping, I use the MT, but I have to admit I find it a bit of a hassle to put on for a quick trip in...

I just feel I'm missing something...I love wearing him and am thinking of getting a pouch...but I don't have any friends that BW, so I don't know what this "looks" like...

Am I making any sense?

Thanks!

Well, DS2 is now 15 months old so I don't wear him as much as I did when he was younger since he loves to be walking around, exploring.

When DS2 was as young as 6 weeks and even now, I would put him in a high back carry in a wrap or a MT to do things around the house all the time. Are you wearing your DS on your back when trying to do housework? I can do pretty much everything with DS2 on my back from cooking, vacuuming, etc. I wear him while out, but I also use the cart or stroller, too. Although, I always have a carrier handy.

Is your DS' grunting his way of complaining? I know that at some point, my DS preferred to have his arms out when in the MT so I had to roll the bottom. If I had him in a back carry, he preferred to see over my shoulders rather than being lower on my back.

For your quick trips in the store, have you tried a hip carry in your ring sling? You can use the MT for longer errands? I personally think a pouch definitely looks more mainstream than a ring sling or a MT.

If ds is fussy and I need to cook dinner or clean (back carry) I will wear him. If I am at playgroup and he's wanting to be held and I want to crochet I will wear him in the rocking chair and he will usually fall asleep. I wear him out walking and anytime we go out anywhere. I also wear him in the laundromat.

I use the KKAFP and find it very comfortable and great for everyday use. I love pouches in general.

I wear ds (who is 13 months) only when going into a store for a quick stop or going on a short walk. He won't tolerate it for longer than about 10 minutes.
