My son is now 4 weeks old. . . and he still is not fitting into his small diaper covers! They say from 6 - 14 pounds. Seeing as he was born 6 lb 10 oz and they swallowed them whole then, I'm guessing the sizing is a little off. He does have skinny little legs, but they don't even fit in the waist either! Anyways, what I'm getting at, is when (about what size/age) did your child fit into their small diaper wraps? I'm really starting to wonder if I need to go ahead and buy more newborn size covers (right now I'm getting by with 3 pairs of cheap Gerber vinyl pants). I don't want to spend any more money for stuff that's only going to fit for a week, plus I have to order online so it wouldn't even BE here for at least another week. : Ugh, I really didn't expect to have this problem (both me and my sis were chunky butts as babes). TIA!

My daughter was 8.5 lbs and chubby at birth, so I don't think I can answer your question... hope it works out soon!

My dd was 8lbs 12oz at birth and fit smalls at birth. She had outgrown many by 6 weeks when she was about 12.5lbs.

I'm in the same boat right now. My foster baby is now almost 7lb at 4 weeks old, and she's just starting to fit into newborn fitteds and covers. She was SO tiny. I don't even remember when the smalls started fitting my daughter. Sorry! If I had to guess, I'd say at about 8lb.

Thanks so much for all the advice. I'm guessing I probably have another couple of weeks on my hands. . . Thinking about buying some more newborn covers (I want something besides the gerber vinyl pants) but I REALLY don't want to order over the internet, with shipping and all. Anybody have any ideas of b&m stores that might possibly carry other covers?

my ds came home from the hosp. around 7lbs... and he didn't fit in smalls until 2 mos old (around 11 lbs).

I'd buy some smaller ones. HTHs

I've never heard that smalls fit 6 pounders. I have always heard that they start around 8 or so pounds. I haven't used cloth from birth yet (I could let you know too late in a few months), but my small boy fit in nb sposies for about 7-8 weeks (much longer than the norm). I think it also depends on which covers you have. Some are known to run big.

We used medium covers from about 3 weeks. I used sposies until then.

I had bought small covers, but when we brought our son home, I tried them on him, and they fit, but on the small side. So, I sent them back and exchanged them for medium. We are still using the mediums at 8 months.

He weighed 11 lb, 14 ounces at birth.

My dd is 7 weeks tomorrow, weighs 8 lbs now and her smalls are still loose on her. I had to scramble to get smaller dipes when I brought her home as the only thing that fit her were preemie prefolds!
Good luck!

Mel L: They are Dappi wraps (I know, not great, but I got and washed them before I knew) and they say 6-14 lbs on the packaging and tag. But if I were to put them on my son right now, pee and poop would be shooting from everywhere! So I have no idea how they can say they will fit a 6 lb baby . . . maybe if the baby were really chubby and short and wearing them up to their armpits? lol
I think I will try to find some nb sized covers just to be safe (I can always use them on the next baby) . . . I'm thinking about getting the Proraps colors from Nickis Diapers. They're really cute and only $7.25 each plus free shipping! But, I don't want to buy them until I know how well they function. Any thoughts on how these are? If you don't like them, what newborn sized cover (that's reasonably priced, we're pretty poor) would you recommend? Thanks for all your help, mamas!

my daughter came home weighing 6 lbs 12 ozs and can only wear preemie and newborn diapers. The only covers that fit her are newborn bummis sww, fcb size 0's and the one newborn kiwi I have. I can't see her fitting into smalls anytime soon

Never mind on the cover recommendations. We can't get any right now seeing as my husband's boss stiffed him out of his overtime hours for last week and now we can't afford groceries. Grrrr.....
