This is for helping my cousin who classifies himself as "morbidly obese" and I think that would be an accurate description. About 7 or 8 years ago, my cousin and his wife came to a family gathering for Thanksgiving, bringing their own Tofurkey and refusing to eat meat. About 2 years later, he and his wife kept talking about how great soy is and how they like to eat organic and eat lots of soy. I told them that I try to avoid soy and they were shocked and I explained a few reasons why. Also that day my cousin showed me his mountain of books written by Gary Null, as if Gary Null is the best, all-knowledgable nutrition & health expert and I just nodded my head.

Fast forward a few years later to present day and my cousin is seriously trying to lose weight and be healthy. I know that he's been going to the gym every day and he's had some progress so far, but since he's morbidly obese, he still has about 200 pounds to go. He and his wife have two children and all of them are overweight. I overheard his wife talking to their daughter on the phone about how their daughter wants to lose weight to look good for prom and the mom said that she has to "eat more protein than carbs" with no mention of fat. Anyway, so my cousin emailed me his weight loss blog that he's been doing and in his resources section, its still all about Gary Null still...8 years later! And he still thinks soy is great but at least my other cousin who is a breast cancer surgeon told him that soy is the only food she tells her patients to avoid because of the estrogen, and he had no idea!

I'm not sure what to do or say. What would you do? What do you think about giving him these links:

WAPF's Guided Tour:
http:/www.westonaprice.org/Beginner-Tour.html

I've always loved this "Calorie Myth" article by Ron Kosloff:
http://www.vincegironda-nsp.com/articles/calories.pdf

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!
