Am I missing somewhere? I am at a loss as to where to get maternity clothes. Here is my dilemma. I am short, 5'3 and before I got pregnant I weighed 140#. Well so I bought some maternity clothes on sale before getting pregnant in my pre preg size which was medium. Well I lost 25# during the first 9 weeks of pregnancy so the clothes I bought are too big now. Im sure they will fit better as my belly gets larger but for now I need some smaller maternity clothes to hold me over. I have checked old navy store, my walmart store, motherhood store and none of them have a very good selection of maternity. I have found some stuff at the online stores but its crazy expensive. I am finding some stuff at goodwill and second hand stores. So any other places you suggest? Where are you buying maternity??

I am not having much luck either. It's all ugly or weather inappropriate (I live in the Pacific Northwest, but they start stocking summer clothes in March when it's still in the 40s during the day -- around here, it's usually not above 60 on a regular basis until mid-June, if that).

Hi Ladies,

I've been lurking on this board for months now. But I have to jump in on this one. I was lucky enough to have a friend give me a BUNCH of stuff; however, I have to say that I have found a ton of GREAT deals on ebay. Check it out!

most of my maternity things are from a second hand store in the neighbouring city that has great things, baby consignment stores are good for having maternity clothes in decent shape, and some from outlet stores. i also live in canada and thyme maternity here has very good things but on the pricey side.

I mainly purchase mine at JCPenney or ebay. But what I buy on ebay is still the JCPenney brand. That's just what seems to fit me the best. They are crazy expensive...what generally happens is that I buy just a couple of pieces for bottoms and then a half dozen tops or so and just do laundry often. This time around I don't have too much of an issue - I have stuff from before.

When I was pregnant with DS, I never could find dress pants for work, so I just bought pants up a size or two. Worked fine for me the whole pregnancy. This time around I don't have that issue since I SAH - I need more jeans, yoga pants, shorts, etc.

i found great tops at a second hand store this past weekend. some are big, but i'm hiding it from the kids that i work with, so they work. i bought some tube top things on ebay that i use to help adjust my pants. so far everything is working well.

I got some pants I really like at Kohls. Good luck with finding some clothes that fit and feel good!

So far, I've been getting my clothes from Ebay and Kohls. Motherhood and Oh Baby! work wonderfully for me. I don't like many of Motherhood's tops, but I do like the Oh Baby! tops even though they're the same company. Other brands I would suggest are Mimi Maternity (I have a fabolous pair of linen adjustable pants/capris from them) and Karen T maternity. The Karen T maternity bottoms do run slightly smaller in my opinion, though. You can find all of these on Ebay for dirt cheap (and new). I sold and gave away all of my maternity stuff last summer because I just knew I was done having babies... and began Clomid treatments a month later. (Go figure, right?) But, the clothes wouldn't have worked anyways as they were winter clothes.

And BellaBand does work too from what I hear. Good luck. =)

honestly....the best place I have found is gap. They carry "ankle" size that is meant for shorter people and they are soooooo comfortable. I know it's a little pricey, but the comfort to me is well worth it. I just had to buy a pair of dress pants and I must have searched 10 different stores before I just gave up and bought the ones I knew would fit the best. The cotton is so soft I could sleep in them. Not a huge fan of the shirts, but the pants and capris are really comfy and fit well=)

I like Old Navy, but honestly I'm not buying mat clothes. I just bought 3 pairs of regular yoga capris, 2 pairs of sweatpants and a few normal t-shirts that are hip length. I kept all my mat clothes from before, so I have some dresses I love, a denim skirt, a pair of shorts, 2 pairs of jeans(that I have really grown to hate). Why can't people get the clue that mat clothes need a friggin drawstring? It boggles my mind, my jeans fall off my butt all the time. The yoga capris are really doing it for me, under the belly, roll waist. They are comfy(and will be after also).

I also scored a bunch of T-shirts for after the baby yesterday at Walmart for a buck a piece. I was stoked, that way if baby spits up and they get stained they are gone. I seriously got 7 long sleeved t's for 7 bucks, that a deal. plus a couple empire waist dresses for like $8(for both). So I have some cute dressy things too. I'm on serious budget mode this baby.

Oh and can I say that some of the stuff out there is just so ugly, I'd never wear it, pregnant or not.

there's an AWESOME store in Austin....on man, i thought they had an online store, but they don't. Nvm, they are a bit pricey anyhow. They're called Special Addition, in case anyone's local-ish
GORGEOUS clothes. stuff you'd be excited to wear even not-pregnant. There's also Mimi maternity, which i think is owned by Motherhood but nicer stuff.

I have to get tall/long pants, so Gap stuff on eBay is what I try to get. Or I just wear yoga pants and sarong skirts--stretchy/long shirts, etc
I don't really wear maternity clothes if i can help it

I am too tall for most stuff! I found some geat stretchy pants at target that were on clearance and I noticed sears had stuff in petite back in the maternity section. My new dilemma: bras!

i try to keep in as many non-maternity items as i can. but, for what it's worth, i often have my belly exposed and prefer the look of being obviously, in your face pregnant and not hiding under large clothing. also most of maternity wear is too cutesy/serious/old lady for me!

for bottoms i have a few pairs of gap maternity jeans and capris but prefer the ones that look the least like maternity pants as possible - no panel, back/secret/hidden panel. i wear the bellaband sometimes. non-maternity yoga pants work well. skirts with stretch or tie waists worn bellow my belly. i'm want to get these two prana skirts to wear now and they'll also work long after baby is born

for tops i tend to wear tanks year round and like the black maternity liz lange from target as well as the layering cami from gap. both are stretchy. other than that i wear regular tanks that can fit but often not cover and hide my gut, lots that i wear when not pregnant. i'm not really a t-shirt or blouse person and will layer a cute cardigan on top and/or a sweater and/or a coat on top depending on weather. i have cardigans and such that will fit my belly but by the time it's cool again i'll be huge and hot and won't care to cover much.

i wear whatever undies feel comfortable, just regular ones, not especially for the pregnant woman and same with bras. i get so burnt out on nursing bras that i'm happy to wear pretty things in awesome colours with underwire and proper support. for the next few months at least!

i am a lazy shoe person and wear flip flops more often than not. or ballet flats. by the time i want to put on other shoes in an attempt to look cute my feet will be too fat.

I ran to Old Navy at lunch today and didn't find anything for work clothes. I need khakis/dress pants, and button up tops, polos, nice tees. Why does everything have gathers, ruffles, no sleeves, or looow necklines. I work for a construction company with all men and do jobsite visits...frou frou doesn't work for me! I did look online and they have some dress pants, but not much for tops that I can wear.
I also poked around Motherhood, another bust, other than some tees. Toward the end though, they are never going to cover my long torso with a baby bump!
At Target I did find one pair of basic dress pants that were okay.
As for jeans, seriously, why do they leave the back pockets totally plain and put them so far apart?!?
Alright, I'll stop complaining...hope you all are having better luck than I am.
