My son and I have thrush ... He doesnt have it very badlyin his mouth.. Just a light coating on his tongue and his diaper area is red.. I have the itchy nipples.. I have been using Lotrimin Af on my nipples and in his diaper area.. I have a book that recommended that or Monastat7.. They also recommended Gentian Violet.. Where do I get that and I have read something about Citricidal Grapfruit seed Extract, Where Do I get these.. I live in a small town a hour from any real place.. The store here ( safeway ) Pharmamcy said they can order me the G V but that will take days to get.. I am having my tubes tied on the 4th and would like ot have this under way and taken care of by then.. I am not sure if that would cause problems.. does anyone know if it will ? Please if you can let me know where to get these two items it would be wonderful! Thanks again..

Christy!

you can get grapefruitseed extract at Wild Oats in Tucson..(I wish I had known you needed this mama as I was just there yesterday!) are there any health food stores at all over your way?

The GV is sometime hard to find but I would call around to any area drugstore, walmart, etc. you sometimes have to ask for it btw as some drugstores don't always put it out. (or Wild Oats will most likely have it, but again I'd call ahead beofre you make the trip)

I am not sure i'm clear abuot the monistat though (this was suggested for nipple yeast?)

You could try eating unsweetened yogurt it might help until you can get the GV (or if you have a vaginal infection apply a thin coat there and inside a bit, not sure if it's good for nipples but maybe someone else does?)

also exposing your nipples (& your ds butt) to sunlight as much as possible might help a little too. try to go bra/diaper less if you can for part of the day.

as with any yeastie beastie I would avoid white processed foods, sugar & drink TONS of water.

I would try getting this under control before your tubal if you can, especially if they give you any antibiotics (and I can't imagine they won't?) which could make it worse.

I definitly would get it under control before you go in. It will probably get worse if left untreated or if you have to take anitbiotics. GV worked great when we shows a resistance to prescription meds. We used it for 3 days and haven't had it since.

Candex, which is made up of natural enzymes to kill yeast, is also available online at www.vitaminshoppe.com, they have really fast shipping in my experience.
