If you go down to your preferences at the bottom of the page, you'll have to click on "from the beginning". Otherwise I think it only looks at things within the last year, and the last post on any of the archived threads is actually longer ago than that, if you can believe it.

Cynthia and I discussed how to make it accessible again, and aside from bumping each thread, the sticky with the links is the only other way, I think.

nah, I do go 'to the beginning." In the other forums, the archives show on top, together with further subdivisions if they exist. These just need their little box back on the page.
