So, I've had issues with the whole vaccination thing since my first was a baby. We vaccinated dd#1 and #2 (after being informed they would not be allowed in school, which was false). Now I am facing the same thing again with #3. I have done research on the net (hard to know what is true or not and articles seem one-sided) and today I took some books out of the library. I feel as though this is the ONLY place that will give me support in considering going vax-free. I only know 1 person who has gone vax-free with one of her kids.

Where did you get your information from to help in your decision making?

Yesterday my daughter had her 4 month appointment. Here's the conversation I had with my doctor:

Dr: So, she's had her 2 and 4 month needles.(?)

Me: No

Dr: (blink...blink...silence) Her 2 month needle?

Me: No

Dr: Her 4 month needle?

Me: No.

Dr: Neither needle?

Me: No

Dr: Please do.

And that ended our conversation. And I knew better than to ask him for info!

That was good. Thanks for that.

I'm sure the other gals will chime in here, but there's a big sticky at the top of the forum (actually several) that will help you. One of the things that got me rolling was to read the actual package inserts from the vaccines. Not sure if the manufacturers/vaccinations are different where you are - here's some of the websites I visitied.

http://www.vaclib.org/index.htm
www.909shot.com

Good luck!

Honestly, it was just instinct. I had my little baby care book and my stomach knotted up whenever I thought of giving DS shots. So I started to look into it from there.

I think it is best to start with a book, as you are doing, because the internet doesn't promote real focus and concentration.

I would read at least two books, to hear a few different perspectives, and then I would use the net to dig a little deeper with the great resources the others have suggested.

It started as a small nagging feeling as I watched more and more vaccines being added to the schedule.

It ended when my 4th child suffered several problems after his 6 month round of shots.

One book I couldn't put down,

A Stolen Life by Marge Grant. I highly recommend it.

You can read a blurb about it here,

http://www.dptshot.com

It pretty much puts everything in a nutshell.

My youngest is not vaccinated at all, turns five years old next week, and has only had a few mild colds to date.

Mine started as a nagging feeling as well - with the MMR with my first. I chose to delay it until I could research it further. About 6-9 months later I realized I couldn't find any unbiased info, thus I really didn't feel like I could make an educated decision, so I decided to trust my dr and get the shot for her.

When ds was born, I had this nagging feeling again, but from the beginning. I decided to space his vaxes apart - he still got all of them, but I would only allow 2 shots at a time, then I'd come back a month later for the rest.

When ds was almost 6 months old (so he hadn't gotten those shots yet), dd turned 3 and I took her for her well checkup. The ped (a new one, since the former one moved away) recommended she get the HepA vax. I kindly said I'd like to look into it and that I'd get back to him.

I googled "hepa" and got lots of results for HepB. As soon as I read that HepB is contracted through sex and drug needles, I halted all vaxes. I knew that both of my kiddos had received that vax within 24 hours of their birth, and I KNEW my kiddos were not going to be doing sex nor drugs any time soon. It was at that moment that I decided that we would get no more vaxes until I found the truth about vaxes.

A month or so later was when a new aquaintance referred me to Dr. Sears. I went to our first appointment there, and I cried to Dr. Bob saying that I really needed advice about vaxes b/c I read about HepB and I just can't do it. He gave me his manuscript to his book that is coming out in October (The Vaccine Book - I started a thread about it, with more info), and then I attended a monthly vax seminar at the office. THEN I finally felt educated (with unbiased info), and I felt 100% comfortable in making a decision that was appropriate for my family.

I started here, got some great information and suggestions for more places to research. I also talked to a woman who has a son who was severely damaged by the varicella vaccination. That really got the wheels spinning in my mind....... good luck in your journey!

I started researching with my pet vaxes but somehow didn't connect the dots until my son was 4 months old. He rec'd his 2 month and 4 month rounds before I wisened up and started reading.

I think the vax inserts as well as the CDC sites were what seemed to really open my eyes. Right there in the inserts it states that vaxes have not been studied for carcinogenic or fertility effects ~ 2 major issues facing our society today. Then to go on and read about the ingredients just made it worse.

There are lots of great mamas here that have tons of info bookmarked (I cannot say I am all that organized to do so) ~ and when you hit a stumbling block they can help answer questions.

We haven't seen any vaxes since that 4 month appt and now DS is 16 1/2 months old. He has been sick only 2 times ~ Roseola being 1 of the 2. I am hopeful we will be able to catch CP, Mumps and Rubella...and possibly even measles while he is in a good age bracket to do so.

I started researching EVERYTHING when I found out I was pregnant. I went online to make a birth plan and ended up researching the eye goop they put in newborns' eyes and then it kind of spun off from there. I looked all over the internet for info on vaccines....and I found this site. And I KNEW from here on out, that we would not pump our baby full of toxins. I also have come to the conclusion that vaxes and antibiotics as a child has really screwed my health as well.

It started in Sept. '02 when I watched a friend's 2yo sleeping on the couch after his MMR. She and I both said then that something wasn't right. A year later he was dx with autism. We watched him go from a vibrant, happy child to a fearful, introverted child that would not communicate except for whining and yelling. (He's now gotten the help he needs, the therapy he needed and is starting 1st grade in a regular classroom!)

Once I saw it first hand, I talked to my mom (I was pg. at the time) and we both agreed there was no way my kids would be vax'd. I only got Dr. Stephanie Cave's book at the time but that was enough to convince DH to not do it right away. I've since read Neil Z. ******'s Book (Vaccines: Are They Safe and Effective?) which showed a documented natural decline of the diseases before the vaccines were ever released. :

My decision has been proven right by watching DDs friends who are fully vax'd and otherwise raised the same way (SAH, organic food for the most part and bf'd (DD was the shortest time of them all at 10m)) - they all have had multiple illnesses, many more colds, ear infections, etc. than DD has had. One child is allergic to eggs, dairy and soy.
