already have 2 beautiful healthy children then I
Miscarried back in May our 3rd pregnancy at 12 weeks DR said it was a rare thing shouldnt happen again .. Now I got pregnant and 8 weeks lost this baby too.
We really wanted/want another baby what do I do?
I know that the same thing happened both times my dates were off by over a week by the time I went to the sonogram at 8 weeks Both times they said I must of been wrong on my dates because the baby measured a week behind.. But I charted and knew something wasnt right. Then I never felt movement (I actually felt flutters w/ my DS at 8 weeks) with either miscarriage. Sac never seemed right on sono and the babys HB was never consistant overtime the babys growth slowed down and just died
I think its just chromosome abnormalities which I believe is most common(please correct me if Im wrong) I never had either fetus tested as I wanted to bury this one and we had the 12 weeker cremated.
Im so scared to go through another MC and I know it can very well happen. DH is 40 and I am 33 so we arent that young LOL
I guess what I am asking is IVF or IUI something that is for cases like mine?
I am really confused, angry and upset as I only just actually lost(passed) the baby yesterday but tomorrow my OB is wanting to see me and I want good questions for him.. I want to really understand what I need...
Please share any stories with me or any info you may have..TY so much!

My ob tested me after 2 m/c's. They used to wait for 3 before testing. They ran several tests--progesterone, thyroid, clotting disorder stuff, chromosomal. It turns out I have a chromosomal issue.
Have you thought about having blood tests done?

Big hugs to you. M/c's are for the frickin' birds.

s. If you plan to ttc again, I'd recommend getting bloodwork done - clotting issues, FSH & estradiol, and luteal progesterone.

I don't think IVF and IUI are typically things they use for repeated miscarriages, but I could be wrong. I would recommend seeing a reproductive endocrinologist and running all the tests. An OB is really not an expert on infertility & repeat miscarriage, as much as it seems they should be.

I think you're right that chromosome abnormalities are the most common issue, and usually they're just random. But there are a number of other things that can cause repeat miscarriages. At the very least you can rule them all out. I also know they sometimes run tests on the remains (if you have them) in second & later miscarriages.

Good luck, and
.

I think IVF and II would normally only be recommended for couples (or individuals) who can't get pregnant at all.

Now, even though you've had two miscarriages, the odds are still in your favor next time - 3 out of 4 women with repeat miscarriages go on to have healthy pregnancies "next time". So the odds are in your favor. Nevertheless, I would certainly see about blood clotting or genetic problems too - there's no harm in that.

I hope you can find some answers and some healing, and that you go on to have a lovely little healthy child in the future
We're all here for you! XX *HUGS*

I agree with Jay Jay. Normally they won't do it until you've had three miscarriages or a second trimester miscarriage, but I would ask about a genetic work up. Clotting disorders are very common and easy to test for. I would see if you can talk to a genetic counselor as well. You may meet some resistance because you haven't had three losses, but I would think they would at least run some blood work for you. I am sorry you are dealing with this.

Yup. I got the tests done right away as well.

Yep, I got some tests right away too (antibodies, chromosomal), but I think there are a few more that are maybe more sensitive to hormones (one of them was the thyroid test, I think.) My RE wanted me to wait until the 2nd day of my 1st normal period before taking that 2nd round of test (except that I got pregnant before having a normal period... oops!
)

There is a lot of conflicting and misinformation about miscarriages. I just finished reading "Coming to Term" and thought it was really good. Written by a science writer who compiled all of the studies and talked to all of the experts to try to get a really thorough understanding of what is actually known about m/c. One of the biggest points that the author makes is that miscarriages are really, really common.... even multiple miscarriages... and that MOST of the women who have multiple m/c go on to have healthy pregnancies without any treatment at all. If you think about each pregnancy having a 25% chance of m/c, the chance of having 2 in a row is still 6%. My point is just that, I wouldn't worry too much right now. What you've experienced is absolutely horrible, I know.... but still not abnormal enough to worry about something being wrong with you (not to say you shouldn't get the tests... go for it! Having some answers will set your mind at ease. Just don't stress TOO much just yet. You're NOT broken
). I know that not worrying is easier said that done, believe me

I hope the tests either point out something very easy and treatable, or if not, that they reassure you that everything is ok and next time will be a sticky one! (My tests came back negative after 3 m/c so I just had to jump back in and try again... so far, so good!)

Oh and some more information that I found helpful about multiple m/c:

Good luck!
