Hi mamas,
I'm running low on my spices, it's time to get some new, fresh staff. Can you recommend any nice spicy webside? i love to cook indian food so i really need some magic powder.
I don't have a website to suggest, but I thought I'd tell you what I do. I keep the glass bottles from any spices I have purchased over the years and also own a set of plain glass spice bottles. I go to my local organic food co-op or to Whole Foods and buy spices from their bulk section. They are fresh and less expensive that way - and the biggest bonus is I can buy a quantity that makes sense for what I need. If I only use the spice on occasion I just buy a little so that doesn't get old and stale.

This is another options to consider

Do you have a indian grocery store nearby? If so, check them out. You can also buy whole spices and grind them in a coffee grinder.

i second the indian store rec...also any ethnic store - chinese, thai, mexican usually has a great selection of spices inexpensive...the rest of the world cooks with so much more flavor than we do

Another vote for Penzy's. Their prices are pretty good compared to grocery stores and they are amazingly fresh. I've been VERY happy with their quality and customer service. You try to find cardomom pods for cheaper! They're much cheaper than even our local coop.

For Indian spices, you gotta gotta gotta go to namaste.com!!!!!!!!!! They have all kinds of stuff, but the spices are the best deal. You can get a pretty big box for I think a couple dollars plus shipping. The food you make will actually taste like you got in at an Indian restaurant! Go there right now and order some stuff, it's sooooo good!

AJP- thespicehouse looks great...
richella- i used to buy from www.namaste.com, but somehow i didn't have luck to get all the things i wanted, so often they were out of cumin ...and that's #1 spice in my kitchen, usually i got lentils or beans, but that wasn't organic, so after all i stopped ordering from them.but dh loves this site, and all the chutney he get buy there
I wish i could just go to a store buy all the things....but i'm kind a stay-at-home-mom , don't drive a car..., sometimes biking, but that's not enough to go to a real deal store ...so internet shopping is my option.
Ladies, one more question...azure looks pertty nice, how do you like lentils and beans from them?
I am not sure what you mean?

I live near to a drop off point to I dont have to pay shipping

I do get beans, lentil, brown rice, flour from them

One thing IMO a person needs to make sure the spices they buy aren't irradiated.
