I was just wondering what kind of birth all of you March Mamas are planning. U/C? HB w/ a mw? Birth Center? Hosp? Just curious...

I am trying to talk dh into a u/c with just him and me here to welcome our (probably) last baby, but he isn't going for it. I have hemorrhaged heavily after each of my births, and he just doesn't want to deal w/ that. Having been on the other end of hemorrhages, I can't say that I blame him. Oh well. So I'll probably end up having my mw partner here and maybe a friend to help w/ the girls if they are awake. That is, unless it happens too quickly...

Well, we are planning a homebirth with a MW, but I have told DP that I will try U/C again with this baby as long as I can call my MW if I feel like I need too. I had a very long labor with DD and I ended up going to the hosptial because we didnt have a MW back up plan

But then again, you are a MW, soo..... If I was a MW I would not think twice about just DP and I. I also bleed pretty bad after Rainey- but I think it was hospital doing- they pulled on my cord until my placenta delatched and this was only seconds after birth- I was so upset- SO UPSET! and then they wondered why I bleed all over, and they didnt give me Rainey until about 10 min for her to nurse.

Okay- I am off my soap box now!

we're planning a uc after up.

i've heard alot of dh's get more confidence after doing some uc reading, including gregory white's 'emergency childbirth', as well as the laura shanley and lynn greismmer books (the latter has husbands' birth stories). but for the bleeding that he's specifically concerned with, do none of the 'regular' remedies work? (i have yet to give birth, so consider me ignorant if i missing something about the bleeding) i know of drinking lots of nettles tea during pregnancy, shepherd's purse, tien chi, cayenne, green clay pack on belly right after birth, nursing, a single dose of 1m arnica pre & post birth....well that's all i can think of right now that isn't put into a hypodermic needle. i'm sure every woman's story is different and being a midwife, well, i'm sure you know about the possible remedies already!

My DH was not into the UC idea at first either. But I started giving him more stories to read about it and I bought Gregory White's "Emergency Childbirth" for him to read also. Now he seems much more interested and willing to try one.

We also have to make a solid contingency for the real possibility of an early birth, as our daughter was born at 35 weeks. There were many circumstances surrounding her pregnancy that are not being repeated this time, so I'm confident in a full-term birth. Still, it would be foolish not to think ahead! My mother gave birth to all three of her children at 37 weeks, so early births run in the family. We're looking for a CNM or doctor who will agree to see us once between now and birth--they'll only need to attend the birth if our baby comes before 37 weeks. But we're having trouble finding that.

hey I just had a friend who has an accidental homebirth VBAC! She was thrilled!

I am planning home birth with midwife again, but this midwife is waaaaaaay more laid back than my first lay midwife. Or maybe I'm just more laid back because its number two.

I'm impressed with all the UCers too! Dh and I have talked about this. Right now both our families already think we are insane for homebirthing.
