where do you store all the glass jars?

806 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  JamesMama
I've been following the inexpensive storage jar thread, and I save a lot of glass jars, too. I've recently started saving even more (& more varieties of them) as I realized I can also use them to freeze spaghetti sauce in. I had that verified by some nice mamas on the nutrition board, thank you.

Anyhow, I don't have that much kitchen space, and, well...glass jars don't store as compactly as....you know.....Rubbermaid/Tupperware/etc. So, what storage solutions have you found for the glass jars you save? Mine are all piled on top of each other in a top cabinet (so dd doesn't accidentally break any) and I'm honestly afraid to open the door sometimes 'cuz I think one might fall out on my head :LOL Help me, please!

I keep mine on a high shelf- actually, on a few high shelves, but I don't have THAT many yet, and I have plenty of extra shelf space right now. We'll see what happens after we move :LOL

If you've got so many in a cabinet that it's unsafe, I'd move some of them to another location, or recycle some of them.

Well, it's not really THAT bad. They are in the cabinet over the fridge, so if one does fall, it only lands on the fridge. But still, I was hoping there was a better way.

Maybe after our garage sale we'll have more cabinet space cleared up.

Store them on a low shelf than by where you would most likely use them.

I put left overs away on a certain counter, so all of my storage containers are directly above/below that counter.
I got a small free standing double cabinet at a garage sale, fits right next to my trash can and I store all sorts of stuff in there, if you have floor space it might be worth checking out. I think the cabinet is 3 or so feet tall and 1-2 feet wide. It has a pincher thing on it to keep it closed (does that make sense?) so I don't think DS getting into it will be a problem. I think I've seen them at wal-mart that you can put together for under $30, otherwise thrift stores sometimes have simular things. HTH
