I'm 15 weeks and the top of my uterus is already at the top of my belly button. While I usually measure a little bit ahead this early on (never more than 2-3 weeks), I have had two smaller babies; dd was 7 lb 6 oz and ds was 7 lb even. I have no idea why my uterus is so high this early! I have an appointment on Wednesday, and am anxious to see what the doctor says.

In pregnancy, the fundus is measured in centimeters from the top of the pubic bone to the top of your expanding uterus.

Typically, a pregnancy grows one centimeter a week, with the baby "dropping" deep into the pelvis in the last two-three weeks in a primipara.

Variations would indicate a small for term baby or twins, or just a big for date baby.

I'm 14 weeks and my uterus is just a hair below my belly button, but it's pretty soft. I know it's not all baby, and I only feel her moving around at the bottom of my uterus. I just chalked it up to my body already knowing what to do, and my uterus already being stretched out from Mylo's residency.
My midwife was not at all concerned, fwiw.

I don't know where it is!
: I do know I can feel LOTS of movement at 15 weeks 5 days, and it's just a hair below my belly button too (no, I'm not saying I have a hairy stomach!)

I'm not seeing a midwife or OB for this pregnancy, and this is one of the only things that I wish I could get a "pro" to feel for. My uterus is retroverted, and it's hard to palpate. I know they say it's supposed to tip forward and be 'normal' once it starts growing but in my last pregnancy, I just never projected that far in front. Everyone predicted a small baby, but she was 8 lbs, 4 oz. I think it just stays back a bit. I can see a little potbelly when I'm standing up, without clothes, but when I lie down I don't even look pregnant. I want it to grow and grow and GROW!

I saw the midwife last week and she said it was about an inch below my belly button and told me that was normal for 16 weeks.

I was so excited to learn where my fundus was that I promptly told some friends (who are moms) and they asked "what's that?" and then gave me a weird look and said "thank for sharing" in that thanks but I didn't really need to know kind of way. I didn't think it was all that personal, I mean you can see that my belly is sticking out, and everyone knows I have a uterus, especially now that there's a baby in there!

I can't tell on my own where it is, maybe I'll try more poking around to see if I can feel it.

Well last night I think I found the top of it. I prodded through all my 'padding' and went based on how it felt. It seems to be more 'tender' than the rest of my abdomen. Is this normal? Anyway, it was about halfway to my bellybutton.

Yeah, what's up with the body of the "woman" in the illustration of fundus heights? Is it barbie or a drag queen?

Today DH and I tried to see if we could find the fundus, but didn't have any luck. Guess we're not as good at anatomy as we thought--we couldn't tell if what we were feeling was a uterus or a bladder

I have lots and lots of padding, but can easily find my fundus. It's pretty much as hard as a rock and, as I said, it's all the way to the top of my belly button. It's especially easy to find it while I'm lying on my back.

My fundus moves around a lot. Sometimes its just below my belly button, othertimes its about 1.5" below it. I think the baby is moving around a lot. Sometimes its really hard too, but other times I can barely feel it. I've concluded this is the baby moving into different positions.

I am 17 weeks along, and my fundus is a good 2 finger wideths above my belly button...so I am measuring more like 23-24 weeks along. I am not concerned...I did the same with ds#2.

at 14 weeks, fundal height was 2 cm below my belly button. The midwife says I am measuring about 1-2 weeks big, but that is normal for me. With the other 2 kids, I measured a few weeks ahead until about 35 or 36 weeks. Then it all seemed to even out
