I am trying to show someone that putting soap, hot pepper, yada yada yada in their childs mouth is not only dangerous, but also, I think, considered abusive by CPS.

Anyone have any factual links to this that I could us.

What is considered abuse is different state by state. If you go to your state's website, they should have a list.

I am a DCFS (IL's equivalent of CPS) worker and I would say that it could be considered abuse. You could call your hotline, ask to remain annonymous and state the issue and they would tell you if an investigation would be open. If you are concerned as to whether they could track you, use a public phone. Although I hate the idea of someone doing that to their child, I couldn't say for certain that an agency would indicate them as being abusive. You may also want to do a search but I just recently heard on the radio about a mom (I want to say a 19 year old mom in TX) who killed her infant/toddler daughter and they found hot pepper in the baby's throat.
