I would really like to try one. Just checked out Belly Dance maternity & they charge $8 shipping! For a piece of spandex! Insane. Any ideas for a more resonable place? (doesn't have to be a Bella Band specifically, a similar product would do fine.)

Thanks!

I bought two from motherhood also, they were only $16 a piece...that's $10 less than bella bands. I use mine all the time to help keep up my jeans and know they will come in handy when I am between maternity and regular clothes come Dec/Jan...

They've got a nice selection of maternity clothes, and charge only $5 dollars shipping. Note: I think they charge $2 more for the Bella Band. . . .

The Belly Hugger is made by a WAH mama...it used to be sold on the momma bird's nest site but you can find them now at http://www.thebellyhugger.com/

It's 16 dollars there as well and I'm thinking of getting a few myself...

You could always buy some fabric for like $2 a yard and then either borrow a sewing machine or go to an alterations store and they could whip it up for you in 15 min for a minimum fee...just an idea. VERY easy to make...

I bought a band similar to the bella band from an MDC WAHM, I posted it in the other thread but I'll post it here too: http://www.christyscreations.com/

I'm really happy with it and I'd reccomend it to anyone looking for a bella band that doesn't want to spend $30.

I made my own out of a pair of pants that I had worn through.. stretchy black tight bootcut pants, I cut off the legs, cut them to the right length and sewed it together...I LOVE these bands.

I looked at the Bella Band but hated how shiny it is. I am home full time and dress very casually, that shiny material would have looked so wierd with my cotton clothes.

Does the belly hugger look matte like a t-shirt or is it shiny like the bella band??

Thanks!

It's soft matte knit fabric like a t-shirt. I have one and really like it. I bought one of the ones on clearance (spring color) for like $9 at her site.

This is perfect timing! I was looking at the Bella Bands the other day. I didn't look at the shipping cost yet though...off to look at the WAHM one!

I bought my BB at the PregnancyStore- $25 which includes shipping...the cheapest I've seen. I have a homemade one too, but it just doesn't compare. I wore mine from 6 weeks 'till the day I delivered, and then for months PP to hold my baby pooch in.

Not that I'm looking forward to spending 30 some-odd dollars (cdn) on the BB (but I probably will, because I could really use it, my shirts are already starting to ride up) but I took a look at the Belly Hugger and I am not sure that it is really a replacement. The Belly Hugger seems to be designed to cover up your belly pp so that you can raise your t-shirt to breastfeed and it comes in MANY different sizes. On the other hand, the BB is designed to stretch to cover up your growing pregnant belly. I'd be concerned that a Belly Hugger would not work from 6 weeks pregnant to 6 weeks pp as it doesn't seem to be designed for that purpose. Anyone have any experience/comments on this?
