I don't know if this would help but I have found some of the older books from the book list like "How to Talk so Kids Will Listen and Listen so Kids Will Talk" and "Parent Effectiveness Training (PET)" at my local thrift store for a quarter each. The disadvantage is you are usually not getting the newest version of the book.
