I think they're all labeled with a noise level or a quietness level on them at the store. That's definitely important to look at. Our house was a spec house, so the developer picked out our dishwasher, so now we're stuck with THE WORLD'S NOISIEST DISHWASHER and an open floor plan, so it's just terrible! It's whirlpool or something, so it's a good brand, but it's so LOUD!!!

we like our Bosch. Quiet and big inside
I
our Bosch. We have the low-end model that has only 3 cycles (power wash, regular, and rinse &hold). It uses very little energy and water, and has a stainless steel interior instead of plastic. However, it is a bit challenging at first to learn how to properly load it, and the cycles are long.

Mieles are wonderful too, if you can afford it! DH works in a lab, and their dishwashers are Miele....he wanted to get one until we saw the sticker price. Miele also has nice customer service reps!

I'd go with a Bosch, too.

That's what I have in my kitchen. The extra cycles are nice and handy. The model that I have has a "top rack only" cycle. I can run a load on the top rack without filling up the entire machine. Plus, the top rack adjusts to 3 heights, so even dinner plates can fit on the top rack. I also like that it's roomy and all of the dividers are adjustable, too. Even my larges pots fit inside.
