Didn't know where else to post...hoping you'll have experience here!

Svan High Chair or a Stokke Tripp Trapp?

Anyone have either? Pros and cons? It looks like w/ the Stokke you have to buy an extra seat part for when they are smaller (DS is a peanut so he might need that for awhile if that's true).

Thoughts on either? Thanks!

I have a Svan, I love it. I love how adjustable it is. I have used it for three years. There are two things I don't like though. It is adjustable up to a point, but the seat is slightly small if you believe it will fit the kid until college. Ok, I don't remember what age it says it goes up to, but maybe you can find someone who has one you can look at. The belt on my model is removable only after unscrewing the back rest. So if the belt gets filthy and needs washed, you have to take the chair apart. The tray falls off the back easily, so we just stored it on the table after awhile.

I do love how easy it is to take off and wash the pads. We never got the wood dirty enough to warrant a hosing, it just wipes clean. I can't imagine having anything else, but I've never had or wanted anything else, so I openly admit my bias. I could see my daughter using it up to age six maybe, but it is going to her brother.

we have a chair that's like the Tripp Trapp called a Keekaroo - LOVE it. It's a nice solid chair and quite a bit cheaper than the Tripp Trapp http://www.keekaroo.com DS is 2.5 now and it's great. It also has an optional tray you could use with a baby.

We have a Tripp Trapp that I got from a store closing as a display model. We really like it! The seat is plenty big for it to last a really long time. It boosts my 5yo and 7yo perfectly, and my 2yo loves it, too! It came with a buckle that I have yet to figure out how to remove, as my 5yo and 7yo don't need it, and the 2yo has his own seat.

If I could get more for a price I could afford, I definitely would!

That too. It (Svan) takes up less space than our regular arrowback chairs and pushes under the table like a right proper chair. I think the Tripp Trapps looked like they did too though. Not sure.

I really like both chairs. We own the Svan and it is so small and matches our kitchen table, so it is perfect for us. The reason we bought it vs tripp trapp was b/c it came w/ the the tray.

I have the stokke tip trapp and love it. I started DS out at 4 months old just sitting propped in it to get use to it. No complaints here. I love how easy it is to keep clean. We did not want a tray at all. Just pushed right up to the table so we can teach from an early age table manners. So far my little guy is almost 9 months old and eats well at the table. It has helped because when we are out to eat at a restaurant the high chairs do not come with a tray so he has gotten use to eating without a tray. YAY. Our chair pushes right up and under our table like the svan

Thanks so much for the input! I'm still so torn as I don't really see any downsides to either... though I do like that with the Svan we at least have the option for the tray, even if we don't use it....and I think I like the look of that one a little more. I can also get that one for 20% which is heavily swaying my decision, but I just am not 100% sure.

I too am considering the trip trapp but have a question--my DD will be 6mos soon. Do we need the baby set or should she be OK without it? I just dont want to spend the extra $$ if she will only use it for a few weeks.

Svan fan here
My sister has a Tripptrapp and loves it, however her son is long and thin and fits in there, my DS is normal length and sort of chubby, he fits better into the Svan. One concern to me was the youtube video of the kiddo in the Stokke pushing off the table leg, nearly falling over. The Svan has a larger "print", providing more stability. Basically the video helped me making my choice, plus DS's "fluffiness"....

We bout the tripp trap with the baby set when DD was about 6 months. As far as I remember the baby set was the wooden rail which goes round the front of the child and a higher back (we have the old one which is not plastic)

Anyway we kept the rail on until they were wanting to climb into the chair themselves at about 18 months. We still have the high back on as we've never got round to swapping it. I guess you could use it without the baby rail but I liked it.

We also bought a harness, and again used it till about 18 months.

I would not bother with the cushions, they did make the seat a bit more comfortable but I found them a real pain to take off and wash. One of the things I like about the tripp trapp is how easy it is to wipe down.

We are still using our chair daily and the children are now 5 and 3
