those are excellent for use if you will be at the beach or water park or pool as the material is designed to help prevent sunburns that can so easily happen when you are near water. It is also a very strong fabric when we and dries quickly.

as for use in hot & humid weather, the material that both are made from is a synthetic fiber and not quite as cool and breatheable as a natural fiber like cotton or linen.

what can i get that is a pouch or ring sling that is breathable? isaac really likes to nap in the maya wrap when we go out but it is getting too hot for that. i think a gauze gypsy mama would be perfect, but i haven't been practicing with my wrap like i should be. i like the maya wrap too much.

http://www.fullcirclebaby.com/catalog.php?category=109
If you're concerned about the synthetic fiber, check out Taylormade Ring Slings. They have some nice organic cotton mesh slings.

The gauze gypsy mamas are awesome, though, too. It might be worth brushing up on your wrapping skills for. I used one a lot last year in the humid Virginia summer with DD.

Nichole,
I so didn't recognize you when I first posted. I *think* and I could be wrong but check with Jenni about this. I think that Jenni was planning at some point to have a sewing get-together with some of the other moms from the NINO group. I'm not sure what all they were planning, or when, since I am leaving soon but I do know that our next meeting is May 8th. It will be the last I will be attending as I am moving later that week. I do know that Emily from the FP group has a solarveil Kangaroo Korner pouch. She would better be able to tell you about her experiences with the material. I do like the TaylorMade mesh sling, it is nice and they are sold through NFB of which there are quite a few consultants in the FP group. Also, if you check on TheBabyWearer's FSOT board, they are GypsyMama guaze wraps that have been converted to ring slings for sale for a decent price. If you want to, just go to the fabric store and get about 5.5 yards of guaze and bring it to the next meeting and we will get you practicing to wrap, or 2.5 yards and we can get you tying a rebozo. Wrapping with a woven is far easier, in my experience, than wrapping with the Moby but it still takes a little practice.
I woudl love to see you again before the move.
Just chiming in to say I have a beautiful, light, and comfortable linen ring sling from Kalea Baby that is nice and cool in our warm California weather.
