I have never had to strip my pocket dipes before, but after today I know they really need it. Ds peed as I was taking off a pocket dipe and the pee just sat there. Then in the grocery store he said "I'm peeing mommy" and suddenly we were both soaked. So, I searched and see suggestions to use RLR (which is what I use on my hemp) or diswashing detergent (particularly Dawn). Just wanted to see what some of you find works best so I can get this done with. Also, do I need to scrub them? If diswasher detergent, how much and how exactly do I do it?

I've stripped my pocket diapers with just several hot washes with nothing added because I figured there was enough detergent and boosters on them already why add more. I was also told you can use dishwashing soap and scrub it on the fleece with a toothbrush. I was too lazy for that so I put the dishwashing soap in the washing machine.Oh my gosh did it suds up so only use a little! Both ways worked equally well and I didn't notice one stripped better then the other. Oh and I have never been able to find RLR so haven't tried that.

I scrubbed both sides of the fleece on all my pockets w/a soft bristle baby hairbrush and a few squirts of Dawn. That was what I had in the house, and I bet it took less time than a toothbrush.

I rinsed over the sink (really well), then did 2 or 3 hot washes. Just check to see if there are any suds in the wash, and keep washing if there are. Good luck.

OMG, you guys are scaring me! I just started buying fleece liners & now this! So detergent builds up & then you wash with Dawn, right? what is RLR?
But if I have fleece covers I guess build up is actually a good thing, youwant a cover to hold wetness in, right?

I got a lot of repelling FBs for cheap and scrubbed them with Dawn. The mamma I bought them from had tried almost everything. I din't use a toothbrush, just my hands and rubbing them together, and then I did a hot wash with them instead of rinsing in the sink and then 2 more hot washes with no soap. Guess what? 5 out of 7 no longer repel. Awesome, huh?

I used to use Cascade powder dishwashing detergent to soak my diapers in and then I ran out and realized that it wasn't having that much effect on them so I quit using it. Someone on here told me where to get RLR but I have yet to find it in our grocery store.
I would use either, but RLR probably would work better.

I am really hoping my hot soak or using RLR will work. Until I asked this question I never knew about the dishwashing liquid. I thought you just soaked them in it. I sure hope I don't have to scrub every diaper with it. How often do you do that? It makes me think the convenience of pocket dipes may not be worth it if I have to do that with them. I can't even find the time to wash one or two items of my own clothing let alone scrub every diaper, lol.
