My little big boy just fell asleep in his own bed by himself for the first time ever. Well, that's not entirely true, he slept in his basinette from birth until 12 weeks and then his crib from 12 weeks until 17 weeks. Then he decided the place to be was with me and daddy. He's been in our bed for the last 4 years. He just said, "I'm sleeping in my little bed tonight" and did it. He did the same thing with potty training, "I'm wearing underpants today" and never turned back.

In a way this is wonderful, I don't have to figure out how to put "Sprawls" (as we call the little bed hog), me, dh and a newborn into a king size bed. I won't have his little feet kicking me in the kidneys, no sneaky little hands "feeling my heart" all night, but I also have no idea how to sleep alone anymore. Who am I going to snuggle? I'm so sad, but so proud of my big boy

What a milestone. I know what you mean. When my dd sleeps without me it feels totally wierd, but the extra room is wonderful!

My little one had always needed his own sleep space in our room (his crib) but moved to a big boy bed in his own room recently. (He could come back to our room if he wanted to, but likes having his big brother across the hall.)

Anyway, I snapped a picture when he went to sleep by himself for the first time.

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y13...tbigbed002.jpg
