My birthday is tomorrow, and all I really want to do is go out tonight to a nice restaurant and have some cocktails with friends. We have friends who wanted to get together for a big group dinner, but dh and I are totally broke at the moment (bad cash flow until payday next week), so we had to decline. We've done these dinners before, and while totally fun, they usually end up costing us at least $100.

My mom and sister are coming over tomorrow for dinner, but my mom can't afford to take us all out, so she is bringing food over.

I'm sure if a few of my friends knew that I had no plans tonight, they would be quick to call me up and offer to take me out, but they don't, and there's really no polite way to call someone and say "Hey, want to buy me dinner tonight?"

Whine. I really wish I was being taken out tonight. Instead we're just hanging around the house because we have no money, and we can't go on a hike or anything because ds1 is still recovering from being sick. I guess I'll go clean the office or something.

Hey, if I knew any of your friends I would call them up. Just remember, a night at home does not have to be boring.

Thanks, I'm in a better mood. I couldn't whine to dh (he would feel bad for not having money to take me out), so I figured it was better to whine here. We watched a cheesy chick flick at home instead, my favorite kind!

Hope you had a nice birthday. For me an ideal one would be where I did not have to cook, serve, or wash the dishes.A meal, movie, and no pet duties.
