My LO can't seem to stay asleep for long periods of time without white noise. I have found it to be a lifesaver. Since I started playing white noise for him he's gone from waking up every 15 minutes during daytime naps to sleeping in 2-3 hour stretches, and at night he's gone from 90 minutes to 5-6 HOURS of sleep in one stretch!!!

My husband is opposed to white noise and pulled up all these articles that say that white noise is developmentally inappropriate for babies because it interferes with the development of their hearing. I certainly don't want to hurt my child, but I can't take many more nights of waking up every 90 minutes and spending an hour calming a crying baby.

What have been your experiences with white noise?

I think newborns like anything that mimics the in-utero environment. I've only read positive things about the soothing effects of white noise. I've been turning on a fan (pointed away from the bed) at night because it helps me sleep! We're still only getting 2 hrs of sleep at a stretch - 5-6 hrs sounds awesome! What have you been using for white noise? I'm ready to try it...

A fan is supposed to help reduce SIDS too! I also am employing the fan turned on low away from the bed technique. It helps me sleep too!

We run the dishwasher at night and lay the babe in front of it and he sleeps wonderfully! The shower running and bathroom fan work sometimes too. I walked around the mall with him yesterday (took the older girls to a butterfly exhibit) and he slept so well that we just walked around for hours! Probably the best day I've had with all three of them alone :) I'm going to look up the app you're using :)
