I'll try my best to explain what they look like. First, a bit of background. DS has had digestive troubles since shortly after birth. Found out a few months ago about some food intollerances (dairy, wheat, eggs, sugar, oranges, lemons). He's been off all of them for around 3 months. So starting about 3 days ago he has been pooping these white "sacks" about the size of a peanut. They are mixed in with the poop. They are gelatiny like and when you squeeze them, there's a bunch of yellow goop inside. He had the same thing before for about a month and the doctor wouldn't even look at them, said to just see what happened. He doesn't eat grapes, and he eats nothing else that would resemble what these sacks look like. He's been complaining about a sore belly and he has had some mucous in the poop as well. Any ideas?

Is he taking any medications? Those sound like they could be pill casings or something.<br><br>
Or maybe he's not digesting something in his diet all the way and it's creating these things? Has he eaten anything new in the past few days?<br><br>
That's all I can think of...I can't believe your dr. isn't interested in that. Lame.

No medications. He's only 2 1/2 so anything he takes is liquid. All he takes now is CLO, probiotics and chewable papaya. He hasn't eaten anything new. He actually hasn't ate much at all. I've booked him in this afternoon with his doctor and I'm going to ask him to do a stool sample for giardia.

Erg, could it be from worms? We have major worm issues with kids in this country and pretty much everyone routinely de-worms their kids about every 6 months. Might be worth a try to get an over the counter dewormer. The sore belly and the mucus are consistent with that, and the little casings might be something erm, reproductive for the worms. I dunno, just throwing an idea out here.

I would also start googling worms in children, there are many types, some of which are not specific to kids, but they get them a lot because they go barefoot, eat stuff off the ground, etc. It's not a big deal, but you don't want to let it go for a long time. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/hug.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="hug">

Your doctor was unwilling to write up a piece of paper for a lab sample test? <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/huh.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="huh"> Wow!<br><br>
I don't know what is in your son's stool, but I would find a new doctor and get a stool sample submitted to a lad for testing.

After much much much begging and pleading yesterday I got a referral to the pediatrician and a requesition. He's checking him for parasites, kidney function, liver function, proteins in the body (?), fasting blood sugar, occult blood, and iron. Hopefully we get some answers soon.

Oh, and where I live, no doctors will take new patients. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad"> We have a really bad problem with a lack of doctors in this province.

Just curious what you use to de-worm your kids. Exdp is from Mexico & also grew up with de-worming being a typical routine. Since he visits frequently, it might not hurt to de-worm us.
