Joann's will have the White Speedylock Serger on sale for $199 from $399. I really really want a serger but have never used one before. Any thoughts on this one? Good or bad experiences?

When I was looking for a serger the Jo-Ann's sales woman told me that White was not a good name in sergers-in fact part of her exact quote was "They are built cheap and they run like a cheap machine."

I have this machine and it works just fine for me. Once you get it threaded it is fine really. I can't thread it, my dh has to do it for me, but I have had it for over a year now and have had no problems with it. When I read reviews on it the main complaint was that if one thread breaks or you run out of one, you have to rethread the ENTIRE machine. Which is very true, you have to do it in order. Eventually I would like a better model that does more but really for everything I have done, which includes make wipes, make clothes and a couple dipes it has worked perfectly for me.

this is supposed to be true for most sergers, however I have threaded my loopers on my White without having to rethread everything else.
