You might want to check with a mod first. Since MDC is a no-abortion-debate community, you might be asked to take them down here, so unless you're looking for them for another community it might just be a waste of effort.<br><br>
I dunno if it applies to avatars, but it never hurts to ask first, KWIM?

I was wondering why I didn't see any threads on recent events. That would explain it! Where can you get that information? I checked the UA, and it just says we "are cautious about discussions on volatile topics such as abortion".

? I don't understand. . . Surely these things are written down <i>somewhere</i>!? I mean, they must be, for the mods to be in agreement on them. I wouldn't want to pester the mods every time I started a thread to know if it was OK or not - that's what I use the UA for. But in this case I would have been wrong.

No, I think abortion used to be a <i>verboten</i> topic, and since has changed to a "be careful because it's volatile" topic (like race issues).<br><br>
I think a little bit of advocacy is OK in sigs and avatars. Obviously anything offensive wouldn't be acceptable.

Sigh. Then don't. Me, I see a slight difference in asking if this would be okay, given that abortion is specifically named as an iffy/to-be-avoided issue and 'PMing the mods about everything I want to talk about', but that's just me.<br><br>

Geez, I was seriously saying I didn't understand your message. You didn't exactly specify what you would PM the mod about. Did you mean you would PM a mod about about whether or not abortion discussions are allowed, or did you mean you would PM a mod to see where on the board these regulations are listed. That's all I was asking!

OP, an easy way to find avatars (since they're just little pics, after all) is to do a google search for the theme (ie, "pro-life"), then click on 'Images'. <a href="http://images.google.com/images?q=pro-life&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-USfficial&client=firefox-a&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi" target="_blank">Voila!</a> Now, legal use is another issue <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/wink1.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="wink1">
