[T]here is some speculation that Al Qaeda believes it has a better chance of winning in Iraq if John Kerry is in the White House.

Bush's surrogates should bring to America the message that the terrorists would be overjoyed to see the end of his presidency.

Kerry will kill our nation while it sleeps because he and the Democrats have the cunning to embellish blasphemy and present it to the Arab and Muslim nation as civilisation...Because of this we desire you (Bush) to be elected.

Most of the world finds President Bush obnoxious, arrogant, crude and a bully. His defeat itself will reduce anti-Americanism globally and will increase American prospects for a victory in this war on terrorism…Will al Qaeda be happy with these developments? I doubt it.... The growing anger in the Muslim world as a result of George Bush's policies has helped them gain recruits, clones and support.

Along w/the rest of the world!

Bush has been *great* for terrorists. Iraq used to be "terrorist free" but now it's teeming w/them. More and more people are joining daily!

Hmmm, the idea of "who would a terrorist fear" is interesting to me.

I consider terrorists to mostly be just like everyone else, but gone wrongly astray. So, I guess their fear is loss of family, life, love, etc... Would they fear their own sucess (in the downfall of their enemies) because they would be "out of work" (redundant, if you will). Or are they still rational enough to truly fear defeat? Do they consider themselves to have already lost all that is important, or are they just trying to stop their losses while they can.

hmmm, I'll mull that over.

I haven't talked to any terrorists, but this is my impression...they are prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice by dying for their cause. As I recall, it was a comment like this, calling the terrorists "brave" that got Bill Maher yanked from ABC.

: I think he had a point

The question that occurs to me though--- are terrorists more like clinically obese people or anorexics?

A clinically obese problem may diet fanatically but there probably *is* a point at which they would say, "okay, got what I wanted, I'm happy."

Anorexics, meanwhile, *cannot* reach that point. Their self-view is seriously distorted and cannot recognize a healthy body.

So, if suddenly tomorrow the western world pulled out of the middle east--- would terrorists (and by this I mean Islamic extreamists, though there are all kinds--- this is an example) say, "Yeah, we won" or "We're not safe til they're all dead?"

Purely academic, of course, but it could/should affect how you deal w/them.
