If you are, are you going to an OB?
Are you getting pressured to schedule a date?
I am!
:

"just in case"

In case of what?
Too big
i dont think that is a good enough reason, unles my body cant accomodate a big baby.

I dont get it. What is the in case of?

I am getting irritated. And now i will be getting a call ( not answering the phone!) to schedule a date.

Just needed to vent a little and maybe have some commiserating!

thanks!

Amy

hey- maybe the full moon or new moon will help me out of this one!

Sorry you getting such pressure.
The date they want to set, is it for induction? Just to warn you, induction on a VBAC momma can be very dangerous.

I am planning a VBAC too, but I am having the baby at home.

nope, no induction. They wont induce for a vbac.

I am thinking maybei need to go shopping for EPO, eat fresh pineapple, have lots of sex and nipple stim.

Anything i left off?
:

Good luck with your home vbacs mammas!
that is exciting!

I am also planning a home VBAC but am getting pressure from the back up OB. I am 40 1/2 weeks and they already want me to schedule daily membrane stripping (uh, no thanks) and plan for a foley catheter in my cervix to get me dilated. I keep putting them off. I don't mind having non stress tests but good grief...let's just let these babies come. They know when the time is right and our bodies know what to do. Birth is so political right now and controversial. I feel like I am constantly advocating for what I believe is best for my baby. This time around I am NOT putting my faith in doctors, I am having faith in my intuition, my body, and my baby.

Hang in there, Amy and stay strong!! I commend you for not answering your phone. I have resorted to that as well now. For some great vbac info, check out the ICAN (International Ces. Awareness Network) website and look at their white pages. Our bodies can birth a big baby. Bones move, plates shift, we can do this ladies!!

I'm not sure whether to expect a birth or an earthquake!

I'm so so sorry to hear that some of you are feeling pressured. A woman in our local ICAN group is planning a VBAC and her OBs want to schedule her for a c/s at 41 weeks.
:

I would definitely leave the phone off the hook. They can schedule all they like, but they can't perform surgery on you if you're not there!

I'm planning a VBAC at home and expect to hear about herbs/castor oil frogwash from my MW in the next couple of weeks.

I am planning a VBAC with my OB's group. I am very lucky in that they do not induce bc it ups the c-sect rate, most importantly I can go past my due date. Now, if I get to 41-42 weeks, they may start talking about it. But at this point (I am 37 weeks), they are really laid back and are just planning on seeing me when I show up in labor.

I hope that you feel comfortable negotiating with them. I have been trying to look at it as a business relationship and would I let another person in that interaction have all the say? Especially if I am paying them? Would I put ALL my trust in what they said, ignoring my intuition? I am finding that folks are negotiable thus far (I am 41 weeks, +1) and that as long as baby and I look good, then they'll "let" me go to 42 weeks then it will be a day by day negotiation from there. I just agree to all the NSTs and AFI checks and coooperate in other ways so that they know I am tyring to work with them as well, even though I have this clear goal of a naturally occuring labor nad delivery. Though, to be honest, with every day and hour that goes by without labor starting, I have a hard time not freaking out. My husband has been a rock for me but I really lose it when I think about having to have that awful surgery again.

Hugs to everyone else worrying...

Vick- glad your DH is supportive. Mine is iffy.

He wants natural so that it is healthier, better for me and babe, better recovery, etc. but he still mentions the convenience of a c-sec.
: no pushing time, no waking up at 3am "time to go" can schedule his time off work.

ack!

gotta get those natural induction methods going...

yep, they want a date "just in case"

My due date is the 15th or the 17th... it has been back and forth.

I am planning a VBAC. At first they were very supportive, now that is getting close they are getting antsy.
I guess they need it for staffing purposes, but STILL!!!
ack!

My CNMs and the backup OB are trying to schedule an induction (membrane sweeping, foley catheter, pitocin) and/or surgery. It's really frustrating to be around people who don't feel that pregnancy and birth are natural, sacred things once you go past 40 wks.

Trying the breast pump now...
