who else?

So, is it just Fabienne & I that are cooking our babes overtime? Anyone else go past their due date yet?

I am also "past date". I was officially due May 29 so the mws say I am now 41 weeks. I still feel great and am not having any problems but they started mentioning induction at my last appointment. I am not really comfortable with that so I am really hoping the baby decides to come this week. I go in this afternoon for a NST and an amniofluid level check. I haven't had them check me for dilation/effacement so I am not sure where I stand there. Is anyone else dealing with pressure to induce??
Was "due" on June 1st. But I did wake up with contractions that haven't gone away today. They are at regular intervals but about 15/20 min apart and last for about 30 sec. Hopefully today is the day!

Hi Leslie & Kathy.

Nice to have others to gripe with!
Kathy--no pressure to induce yet, but I have the feeling that I will be getting it after Wednesday (my next appt). I'm "officially" 41 weeks this coming Friday, but they are having me come in Wednesday so that I can schedule a NST if need be
:
He measured about 1.5 weeks "ahead" in both our ultrasounds, so I'm a little worried that they'll take that into consideration re: induction...also the fact that my first was 10 days late and over 10 pounds. My midwives are very laid back, but for some reason I get the feeling they won't be so much about going post-date.

Unless there is a very serious medical reason why I should, I won't let anyone near me with pitocin. I'm pretty sure I induced myself with my daughter, after a cohosh tea, and labor was hell--but I'll go through that type of labor again if it means no pitocin, because really, I don't want to be strung up to an IV/FHM in the hospital. I want to labor at home, and go in just to push him out. Won't be doing that with a pitocin induction. I just got back from a long, brisk walk, but nothing. *sigh*
And I've had decent BH contractions every 15-20 minutes for the last 29 hours.

Leslie, here's hoping today's the day!

Hey Mamas,

Just saying howdy to the other "late ones." It does help to know we are not alone. No progress here--the occasional BH and some cramping. I had regular contractions 6 minutes apart night before last for like 3 hours!!! What a disappointment to be down to essentially nothing now.

I haven't had *pressure* to be induced yet, but midwives did have me schedule a NST for Thursday. I'll only be 40 weeks and 5 days at that point, so the fact that they want me to do a NST doesn't have me feeling very confident that they'll let me go on without at least strongly suggesting induction.

If they mention induction on Thursday, I might call my naturopath and look into doing cohosh or pressure points or something else natural. Emmy, it makes me a little nervous to hear how intense your labor was with cohosh, but I'm right there with you on preferring that to being given pitocin. Pitocin and epidural have been my 2 biggest fears with respect to delivering this baby!!
Not late yet. but I am due Wednesday. I don't see anything happening before then. Waiting is hell!

Ditto ditto ditto.
I've been having strong BH forever now, and I figured a nice brisk walk this morning would help them along, but if anything, it stopped them. Even belly binding isn't doing anything.

Also my feeling with my mws--induction hasn't been mentioned yet, but the fact that they want to be able to schedule a NST after seeing me on Wednesday (at 40wk 5days) leasds me to believe that they'll be urging induction.

As far as the cohosh goes, please don't let me scare you about it. While I think it was a contributing factor to my rough labor, I also am a 5'4" 105lb chick that birthed a 10 lb 4 oz baby...so really, it's impossible for me to say for sure whether or not my labor was rough because of her size, or because of the cohosh. The thing that sticks in my mind is getting to the hospital and the dr telling me that my contractions looked like pitocin contractions, and being only 3 cm.
That being said, even if that was the case, and the cohosh caused a pitocin-like labor, I'd rather do that and at least *try* natural, because with cohosh at least I won't be automatically IVd and monitored.

POSITIVE THOUGHTS, though, that none of us need to worry about this!!

Well the NST went very well - the baby was very happy and moving perfectly. I had "really good amnio levels for someone over 41 weeks" so that also made me feel really good. My blood pressure is still good and although I didn't ask for a weight estimate the mw said it felt like a normal sized baby - so not getting really large. No one mentioned my being induced today so that made me feel good. I go back on friday for another NST and AFI. I will be just shy of 42 weeks then (assuming I go that far) so I guess I can expect more pressure at that appointment.

So far no contractions except bh so it doesn't feel like a baby will be arriving any day now. I still feel like I have tons of time - in fact, I am still not totally packed for the hospital. We haven't even made a decision about circ. We don't know if the baby is a boy or girl yet but we are just really having a hard time with this decision. Does anyone else have anything that swayed them one way or the other?? Maybe I should ask this in the regular chat thread.

Also, I think every parent should witness a circumcision before deciding on getting one. It's pretty horrific for the baby.

Observe a circumcision before you decide
Kathy, please please please go read at The Case Against Circumcision http://mothering.com/discussions/forumdisplay.php?f=44 here at MDC. There is no medical reason for this procedure, and it's just so not good for the baby--or for an adult male's sexuality.

Glad to hear the NST went well--keep us posted!

Thanks for that reassurance, Emmy. So
about going with a natural inducer before letting them near me with drugs!!
