My 5-1/2 month old ds has the "crud" . He began coughing last night and he had a hard time nursing this a.m because his nose was stuffy and he kept trying to breath through his mouth while nursing I feel so bad for him. I was really hoping by him not attending daycare and me EBF that he would avoid this until he was at least a year old. He has been sleeping a lot today. I don't know what else to do to make him comfortable except nurse and hold him. I really wish I could make it all better for him though. Poor little guy

Who else is experiencing this?

Awwww... hope your lil man is feeling better fast. My 5 monther is feeling the same. We are sharing a home with a large family plus our own so we could not avoid it...we shared a cold and it finally hit him yesterday. He is okay except for the cough and stuffiness when he sleeps. Which made nursing tough last night. Hopefully though, because we nurse it will shorten the duration and our little guys will be good as new soon. Lotsa TLC in the meantime.
Our ds who's 11 mo. just got his first "crud". It is upsetting that they get sick, no doubt. We were worried sick because he had his first fever. Dh and I put on the humidifier, and gave him a quick warm bath and put him to bed with me. He liked it better if I nursed him sitting up and rocking him first which helped his stuffy nose. Hope your dc gets better. Our ds got better rather quickly thank goodness!

Well my dd has croup for nearly a week and has had "the crud" for the 2 weeks prior to that. Her nose was so congested she could barely nurse and sucking it out helped for a little while but then it just kept leaking and being stuffy at the same time. It's been nearly 3 weeks of sickness and I'm ready for it to be over! She's miserable and coughing and sneezing and constantly runny nose and mama is feelign the effects of it. I'm exhausted. :
the main problem is that at that age one thing easily leads to the next since they can't blow their nose properly...ear infections, upper respitory infections...
i would highly recommend keeping your dc's nose as clear as you can. i know this sounds gross but the best way i found to do this is to suck it out myself. it is *so* efficient. you *might* get the cold but at least that way you give your dc the additional immunties too!

It's official, all 3 of us have double ear infections. How sad is it that I have one too?!
