Oh yeah, that was me. The logistics of packing up a house and moving 4 hours away are hard enough, but throw in a major holiday and I am ready to lose it. It seemed like a nice idea 4 months ago to have Christmas in our new house. Now I've just found out that our household goods are being delivered on the 21st, which gives me exactly 3 days to unpack AND put up a tree (which the kids are expecting, big time). Oy!

Two years ago, my mom moved on Christmas Eve. Granted, it was only about 10 minutes away, and she had one of those portable storage units packed and waiting in the driveway of the new house, ready to move in as soon as the papers were signed.

My sister did all the Christmas shopping Christmas Eve, including buying and decorating the tree. Not only was it my mom, brother, sister, niece and sister's boyfriend who were living in the house, it was also my family of 5, sister's friend, her daughter and her sister, and sister's other friend and her son....all while the guys and stronger adults were moving furniture in and trying to unpack at the same time. It was an insane mixed up crazy fest.

It was also the best Christmas EVER.

Trust me...it will be great. There's nothing like Christmas in a new house. :)

We moved most way across CA (about 6-7 hours away) the weekend before Thanksgiving. With a 3 month old. Who loathed the car (thankfully him and I flew but being stuck in rush hour traffic after the flight in an unfamiliar town pre-GPS with a screaming baby and way too little sleep was hell).

We moved to a new house the day after Christmas 2 years ago. It reduced the stress a little but it also was kind of a bummer, because I couldn't go nuts with decorations like I usually do (didn't want to have to pack it all last minute) and we couldn't relax because we were packing and preparing to move. So glad we won't have to do that again!
