L is wearing medium FBs now, but I'm beginning to feel unhappy about the fit. I still have to snap on the middle waist snap and the 2nd or 3rd leg snap but I think the rise is getting short... in the front it comes down below her belly and makes a big pooch instead of laying flat like it used to.

We have large FBs, but I'm not sure she will ever fit into them. I have to cross-over the waist snaps and they just seem way too big. Should I keep them? Do you think she'll grow into them? What size was your babe when they wore a large FB?

I don't want to keep them if she'll never wear them... do you think I should try to trade for a PT size? Is that basically a medium long?

Thanks for any advice!

My dd is in a large now. She is 26 months. She outgrew the PT (which IMO is only a little bigger than the mediums, made basically for thinner toddlers) but we are still on the middle snaps after several months. I'm pretty sure we will be in these for a while!

What are you stuffing your FB with? I found when my ds was little I had the exact same poofy problem you are having. I was using infant pf's and they were just too bulky for them. Looking back now, I bet it would've fit better if they had the microterry inserts then. After that I stopped with the FB, went on a sposie vacation for 6 mos (oh the shame!) and just now at 2 yrs I went back to the FB - he is 28ish lbs and a pretty good sized boy. He wears large on the tightest waist setting with the inserts (I LOVE THESE NEW INSERTS!)

I MUCH prefer the fit of PT to large... large was just way too big all around for my kids but Pt was just right.... It sounds like your little one would do great in Pt... that's my recommendation and we had med, pt, and large all at one time and Pt was the best....
I would sell the Large FB as it sounds like your girl would do just fine in a Pt for the duration of her diaper days. My 2 yr old wears a pt on the middle settings so she has plenty of room.

Corby has been in large FB's for a while now. He weighed 26lbs with all his clothing on at 2 years. He is on the tightest setting but we don't have a problem with them. Hadley just moved up to larges at 13 months. She has moved up basically because she has thunder thighs though. The mediums were leaving nasty red marks on her thighs on the biggest setting. She weighed 20lbs at 1 year.

If it's mainly the rise she's outgrowing, I'd go for the PT over a large. My son is on the tightest waist snap and second tightest thigh snaps on the larges. He is 3 years old and 28-29 lbs.

I think PT would work better for you. DS1 is in Large FB (He is 27 months, 32 pounds) his 5 month old 20lb brother wears mediums. When I put DS1 in mediums they fit but they do the same thing you desribed--poof out in the front. He fits in the larges fairly well--with one insert they are little big on him still. He is on the tighest waist snap setting and second tightest leg snap setting.

I agree totally

My son is 23 mths and his larges never have fit right. Even when crossing over the top tabs. I just bought a few PT and they fit perfectly. He's tall and skinny. I'm planning to sell the larges I have because truthfully he's been wearing the meds we have for so long that I'm sure he'll fit in the PT until he's out of diapers.

edited to add DS is 25 pounds and we stuff with MOE micro.

Tara, I'm having the same problem with my ds. He is still in mediums, but he's got fat thighs and a skinny waist. The rise is getting short on him also because now and then I get a peek of baby butt crack. :LOL

I have 13 brand new larges just sitting there because they are way too big on him, especially in the waist. I'm starting to wonder if he'll ever fit in to them as well. Maybe I should have bought PT's. hmmmmm. . .

Thank you for all of the input. L is 22 pounds at 12 months and pretty chunky still, except for a tiny waist in between that buddha belly and roly-poly thighs. We stuff with either microterry or JBs--so it is not the insert that is poofy, just the way the dipe fits right now. I think I will offer up a large FB on the TP for trade with a PT, and see how that works. Either that or it might just be time to find a new diaper...

Sounds like you have found a good solution!

My dd is 15 mos. old and 23 pounds and solid build. She wears larges on the smallest or next to smallest setting (the older ones are a little smaller than my newer ones for some reason). They are a little high in the back, a little baggy in front, but they fit okay and hold it all in. Since I plan to use them for awhile I didn't want to have to buy 2 sets when one would do. I had some PT for her and sold them because they didn't fit her big thighs even on the large setting.

My oldest dd was in PT and never went to larges even at age 2. It all depends on the baby.

My DS wears larges (the new kind) on the second smallest setting - the smallest bunches up. He is 14 mos, 32 inches tall and 26 pounds. These are actually our first FBs so I can't say how he might fit in another size. I like the fit on him. We use a joey bunz insert with a mothereve insert. ME insert always on top, I think it absorbs faster than the hemp.
