I am not planning on pumping for this one, but never say never right? With my last set of surrogacy twins I pumped for them every two hours for 12 weeks
: I used the hospital grade Medela pump (sorry I can't remember the exact name).

I would say that if you are going to be pumping long term I would go with an electric hosptial grade pump. So much better IMO!

I will, for truck rides, and we intend to have dad feed baby a bottle every few days to keep it used to it (we'll wait til baby's nursing really well before introducing the bottle). I got an Avent Isis (?) manual pump, it was on sale for $35 I think at BRU the other month. If I can find someone who needs it, I may also pump for a low supply mom locally.

I'm not planning on it (there's that never say never). Neither DD nor DS would ever take a bottle and DD didn't like the taste of my milk after it was frozen, it tasted like soap. I ended up throwing it all out then not pumping at all for DS.

I'm not planning to this time, but I had major latch problems with my first and ended up pumping exclusively for about 6 weeks. If you know you'll be pumping a lot, I second gsmama2's recommendation for a hospital grade pump. They're so effecient. I used the Medela Lactina Select, which I rented from a pharmacy for about $25/month. TOTALLY worth it. I tried a cheaper pump and could only get about 1 ounce, but with the good one I was getting about 8 oz per breast.

Cara-it's pretty easy to sit next to the car seat and lean over to nurse while on the road. Wait-just realized it's a truck so maybe there's not a seat next to the car seat?

I'll pump on occassion -- I like my Ameda pump. It's not as good as a Medela but it does mimic the a baby's suckling enough that I can get "let-down". I would recommend renting the Medela too if you have to be away longer stretches of time from baby.

I had the best success with offering a bottle of pumped milk at 5 weeks old. I think that's the time when La Leche League says to start and it shouldn't interfere with established latch. I waited too long with baby #3 and she never would take my milk from a bottle. Definitely take advantage of engorgement in the beginning and pump/store in freezer. After that the only time I could get enough to pump was first thing in the morning when supply was higher.

I am going on 7.5 yrs. of breastfeeding! Although does my 2.5 yr. old DD nursing only colostrum twice per day count ?

Yeah, I'm not too sure how that would work. It's an extended cab, but not REAL roomy back there, so we'll have to see. Plus in the winter we usualy have to use the back seat to carry stuff. Who knows, we'll play it by ear....

I am planning on pumping! I have an Avent ISIS, which I had with my dd1 and I loved it. I am a midwifery student, I will be bringing babe with me in the sling to class until February 1st, but then I start a placement, so I will be using the bottles part-time for births etc. I will start pumping probably around 6-8 weeks post-partum, if all goes well!

I plan on pumping as well. Last time I had a Medela a friend gave me, it was a really slow pump. This time I am renting a hospital grade pump from our local hospital. I may not use much of it, but we like to have the option of an overnight with Gram occasionally

I plan on pumping. I just feel better having a stash in the deep freeze. My friend is now finding herself in need of a freezer stash (doula work) and has no saved milk. I've been there, won't do it again!

We're planning on buying a Whittlestone hospital grade pump.

I forgot to mention that I use a Medela pump in style... I like the insulated compartment for storage and the adjustable suction.
With dd, I had so much oversupply that she was literally gagging on my let down. I had to pump off some in order to get her to latch on correctly. We had a whole host of issues when she started nursing because of that. Good thing SIL is a lactation consultant, because otherwise I could have thrown in the towel. I wanted to donate the oversupply, but becuase I take asthma meds daily, I am not a candidate.
I discovered with the medela that I could pump right into the storage bags with out the bottles. Good for freezing.
Anyway, I am rambling! Must have more sleep or more

I have to go back to work and school within 4-6 weeks, so am gearing up to pump.

What pump will you be using?

I have a purely yours pump.
I am. For my sanity I'm hoping to take a class starting in the spring. Just one class
and Dh can watch Mystery Baby.

I hope I get more milk than with my son. No matter how hard I tried I never got more than an ounce when I pumped for him.

I definitely have to pump. Our little one is going to be in the NICU for several months having surgeries so I won't always be able to bf. The closer we make it to term the less I'll have to pump, but the baby still won't be able to nurse for several hours before and after surgery each time. Plus, I don't know if I will be able to stay with babe round the clock. I do have to other little ones to consider as well. I'll have to pump when I am spending time with them.
