Generally I pride myself on NOT being superstitious, believing in old-wives'-tales, and so on. Usually I'm logical, reasonable...

This morning a co-worker told me that she dreamed about my baby being born, and that this only ever happens two weeks before the birth-- that is, for everybody that she's known that had a baby, she dreamed about it two weeks prior. I reminded her that I'm not due for five or six weeks yet, but she said it hasn't failed yet!

So why am I letting this freak me out?!

Well how nice of her to make you worry
:

I tend to be slightly superstitious myself. For example, I've had lots of dreams about this baby being a boy, and only a few about her being what the ultrasound said she is: a girl. So I'm quite paranoid about her coming out with an extra part we didn't plan on...and having to be dressed in pink and nameless, for the beginning of his life. I also have had a feeling from the beginning of this pregnancy that I would go early, and because of this have been paranoid I was going into labor since, oh, 18 weeks? I'm really going to laugh if this baby comes out at after 40 weeks, a girl like we thought, and my 'feelings' are both proven wrong.

I'll tell you what I remind myself on a hourly basis: worrying doesn't add a minute to your life (or pregnancy), and as my midwife says, "You just have this moment--this moment with your baby inside of you." So try not to freak out too much

I can be a little superstitious (e.g. not naming the baby or buying baby stuff until after it is born), but I would not let a co-worker's self-proclaimed powers bother me in the LEAST! My secretary swore to me that I was having a boy, and that she is always right. Unless my boy has a vagina and no penis, she was pretty much completely wrong.

She probably has "predicted" so many births, because she knew ahead of time since so many people have pre-scheduled inductions or CS's.

I think you need to get worried if you are having signs of labor, or otherwise feel that things are off.

I agree, and she really should have kept it to herself. I'm sure there are plenty of people she was wrong about, too!
