My daughter just turned 2 yesterday!
: I can't believe how fast it's gone by. I remember when she first repeated the sign for "more" and now she's walking around talking about "amazing dandelions" and the "octopus stuck in my shoe!" Craziness.

So who else has a little one turning 2?

I thought I'd respond. My little dd turns two next month, in July (the 20th).
Where HAS the time gone? She's talking so much now! I saw a newborn the other day, and it seems like yesterday when I was holding her in my arms (without her squiggling) and nursing her for hours on end.

But, I love this age. They're so much fun, and can communicate (more or less) their wants and needs. She takes her time getting everywhere (a lesson for mom...) and loves looking at simple things like flowers, leaves, sticks, pinecones and dogs and airplanes. I've only had one meltdown (aka a temper tantrum) which was in a supermarket when she hadn't taken a nap. My fault for taking her shopping at a sensitive time.

Question: what did you do for her b-day? A big party? I'm inclined to think that dd is a bit too young for the big giant party with the works, so I think we'll invite 2-3 good friends over for a couple of hours. A healthy cake, and maybe some noise-makers for them to play with?
I'm new at this whole children's party thing, and don't really want to listen what mainstream mags and ads say that a parent is 'supposed' to do for a birthday.

My dd Olivia turns 2 tomorrow! It goes by way to quickly! A great time to reflect on your little one's birth. Hard to beleive it's been 2 whole years! As far as a party goes. We're doing two small parties. On 2 different days! One with my side & one with my dh's side. But both very small picnic style gatherings, it should be hot so we'll probably fill up the little pool. I've done the huge party thing with my first dd Miranda & it is way too stressful! I'm over inviting everyone & going broke just to feed them!

My DS, Stiles is turning 2 on the 14th! It's amazing to look at him now compared to even 6 months ago. As I tell my DH, he's a little boy now, no longer a baby
: He's becoming more verbal and can climb the playground equipment better than most 3 year olds. I love this age! Even with its difficulties. We're enjoying him soooo much.

My ds Miles is turning 2 on the 17th. He's so fun, I love watching him learn to talk, see how his brain is working so hard.
We're having a party with family (which is all adults) and one friend and parents. We're having it in the late morning before he starts getting tired for nap, and so if he eats any sugar it will be out of his system by night time. I'm thinking about having finger paints for a fun new activity. Has anyone done finger paints with this age? Any comments or suggestions?

my dd will be 2 on the 28th of June, I was wondering the other day if there were any other June 2003 babes! i too am shocked at how the time has passed so quickly, i also have a 12 year old and a 6 year old, and this is my last babe so the tears come so readily when i think about her growing up...
as for a party, there is one little boy that will be coming, and our midwives, and a couple friends possibly-nothing huge, there will be plentyof time for that later LOL

Ds will be two next Saturday....funny, I wasn't at all sad about him turning one, and yet I find two to be much harder on me...I can't look at baby pics of him right now without tearing up (which makes trying to catch up on his baby book a whole lot o' fun

The emotional drama could also be because I'm 26 weeks pregnant....

We'll probably have a bbq with a couple of his little buddies and their families over...nothing fancy, just a glorified playdate really.

I also love this age...I love talking to him and having him respond, and all of the little man things he does now...saying "oh maaaaan!" and "actually, how about....." He cracks me up everyday and I am just trying to treasure this one on one time with him before new baby is born, so that I'm not wasting all my energy wishing the baby to come, but spending it wisely on appreciating the single child time I have left with Elijah.

My ds will be 2 on Saturday!! I can't believe that is even possible! My baby can't be 2! If you can't tell, I'm having issues with my little guy turning 2-geesh what will I be like when he goes to college

I guess I do have to say, I love this age...he is doing so many fun things now, and saying so many cute things! He still gives me big hugs, and that's all I ask!
HAPPY 2nd Birthday to all your little ones!!!

Amelie turns 2 on the 20th. Hard to believe. I keep thinking, when did she get so big and grown up? She doesn't even look like a baby anymore! She's a little girl now. Wow. At least she still likes to cuddle and nurse.

It's definitely an amazing age. Today she was teething on a heart applique on her shirt (before I managed to convince her to wear it so we could go out) and says to me, "Mmmmm....delicious!"

:LOL Too funny!
