I have made several felt birds (by modifying the pattern from the winter Living Crafts) and painted several wooden eggs and wanted to put them in a bird's nest on the window seat where we watch the birds at the feeder and in our trees. But I can't find a nest anywhere--I have tried JoAnn's, Hobby Lobby, Michael's and can't find one. Why is such a hard thing to find? I could felt one but I wanted it to be twigs or straw to be more realistic. Anybody have any thoughts on where to get one?

I just saw a very sweet nest that I have been thinking about for the same reason. The nest was at Target and it held a set of salt and pepper shakers that looked like Easter eggs. I didn't get it because I really don't need them, but the nest was really nice and sturdy--woven twigs.
I don't know if you could get several birds and wooden eggs in it though.

I just made one by collecting straw-like leaves from outside and wove it together. I soaked the leaves in the tub first, then got to work putting it together. No rhyme or reason, just did what felt like it would hold. Good luck!

I got one at Joanns by the fake flowers...but it's really little. You can see it in this pic. For scale...the little blue wool egg is a bit bigger than a jelly bean.

I'm sure Michaels and Joanns and any place like that would have something similar. For the record, I was looking for a small nest so didn't even look to see if they had bigger ones.

I finally found one! On clearance at World Market! It's the perfect size... it does have some styrofoamish eggs glued in the center but after wiggling them slightly in the store I am sure that they will come out.
